Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Procurement Manager is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing all purchasing and sourcing activities to drive cost efficiency, operational excellence, and supplier performance. This role develops and executes global procurement strategies, manages vendor relationships and contract negotiations, to ensure alignment with organizational goals and compliance standards. The Procurement Manager leverages data, market insights, and total cost analysis to identify savings opportunities and mitigate risk while maintaining high service and quality standards.
This hands-on manager will continue to lead the development of the procurement function by centralizing existing buyers under a unified structure. This role will play a key part in shaping and scaling the department, with strong potential for growth as procurement capabilities evolve across the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following. (other duties may be assigned)
Develop, implement, and continuously improve global purchasing strategies, policies, and procedures to drive operational efficiency and compliance.
Lead vendor sourcing, selection, and relationship management, including negotiating pricing, terms, and long-term agreements to optimize value and mitigate risk.
Drive strategic sourcing initiatives and cost optimization efforts through total cost of ownership analysis, spend analytics, and market intelligence.
Oversee contract management, ensuring all agreements are competitive, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals.
Provide leadership and oversight of purchasing operations, ensuring efficient procurement processes, system utilization, and adherence to best practices.
Establish and monitor supplier performance metrics, holding vendors accountable for quality, delivery, cost, and service levels while resolving escalations as needed.
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align procurement strategies with business objectives and support operational and strategic initiatives.
Manage and forecast departmental budgets, ensuring cost control and alignment with financial targets.
Analyze market trends, supplier performance, and procurement data to inform decision-making and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
Lead, mentor, and develop purchasing team members, including training on policies, systems, and strategic sourcing methodologies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration or related field preferred. High School diploma or equivalent required.
10+ years of direct purchasing experience.
3+ years in a supervisory or management role with progressive increased responsibility.
Manufacturing experience preferred;
Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) is required;
Experience in Oracle purchasing system is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong knowledge of procurement principles, strategic sourcing, and supply chain management practices
Understanding of contract law, negotiation techniques, and supplier agreements
Understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls related to purchasing
Ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment
Strong negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to drive favorable business outcomes
Ability to think strategically while executing operational priorities effectively
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset
Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines simultaneously
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and present to leadership
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers
High level of professionalism, integrity, and sound decision-making
Extensive experience in spread sheet, document, and presentation preparation software (Microsoft Office preferred, Word Perfect).
