Overview of the Role

Saputo Dairy Products Canada G.P. is seeking an Supervisor, Production, for an existing opportunity within our organization. You'll discover a stimulating atmosphere that fosters your professional growth in a clean and safe environment. Reporting to the Manager, Production the Supervisor is responsible for the manufacturing and bulk format finishing/packaging and finished good packaging of cheese in accordance with the standards and safety objectives established by Senior Management of the Company. This position will involve various shifts to fill in for the Production Supervisors as needed.

Status: Full-Time Permanent

Schedule: Monday to Friday 3:00pm – 11:00pm

Salary: From $80,130 to $105,170

How you will make contributions that matter:

  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and GMPs to ensure the highest quality product possible.
  • Ensures KPI targets are achieved including safety, quality, efficiencies, cost, and health and safety.
  • Transport raw materials, finished products and equipment throughout plant manually or using powered equipment.
  • Maximize profitability of the Production department through efficient use of raw material, productive use of available labour and control of overhead costs.
  • Organize the Production labour schedule or modify it as needed.
  • Provide leadership, direction, guidance and support to the Production staff.
  • Develop positive, motivating, and efficient communication with all employees.
  • Have the necessary computer skills to be able to set up and/or adjust the blending programs (recipes) and work with the Maestro system.
  • Adhere to the Production schedule and adjust schedule as necessary when unexpected occurrences dictate.
  • Ensure all documentation is filled out as directed by the Production Manager.
  • Assist with resolution of breakdowns, give direction to maintenance staff, and provide information to assist in identifying causes.
  • Ensure safe conditions and work procedures exist at all times within the work environment  
  • Be familiar with Health & Safety, HACCP, and all other company policies and ensure that procedures are being followed at all times.
  • Report incidents (within or beyond their control) to QA or management.
  • Ensure all cheese make “occurrences” are recorded for future reference.
  • When senior person in the plant, provide guidance to employees in other areas of the plant as needed.
  • Flexibility to work shifts outside regular scheduled shift to help with such things as audits and equipment tear downs/repair or to cover for supervisors as needed.

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, results oriented and possess high degree of initiative, and work well with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency and dependability in current position.
  • Will hold, or be prepared to satisfactorily complete the Cheesemakers course, at University of Guelph (or equivalent).
  • Proven leadership skills and strong team orientation.
  • Working knowledge of computers (MS Word, Excel, Maestro, etc).
