Swan Valley Co-op is hiring a Summer Student: Yard Labourer at our Home and Building location in The Pas, MB.
Core Function
The Summer Student: Yard reports to the Store Manager and is responsible for maintaining the Home Centre yard, grounds and equipment in a neat and orderly manner ensuring it’s safe for all team members and customers. The Summer Student: Yard will perform duties in accordance with the mission statement and policies/procedures of the Swan Valley Co-op Ltd. Position will be full time June 2025 through August 2025.
What you'll do:
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- To adhere to our Co-op Values: Respect, Integrity, Community, Excellence
- Removing debris and other waste materials from the Home Centre property
- Basic grounds care, including mowing grass
- Organizing and sorting materials on the Home Centre property to improve appearance and safety
- Assist in the proper care and maintenance of all department equipment and maintain cleanliness and order of merchandise in the yard.
- Practice and maintain safe procedures for the handling and stocking of merchandise.
- Observe safety measures and report hazardous conditions immediately to the Yard Supervisor.
- Follow safe front-line loss prevention practices and maintain a constant alert against unauthorized removal of merchandise.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- To be a liaison and public relations representative for the Co-op within the communities we serve.
