Position Summary/Objective
The Processing Technician is a hands-on role, supporting areas of cannabis product production, from extraction to finished goods, and ensuring that products are manufactured and packaged on schedule, within quality standards, meeting cost objectives and shipping on-time to the customer. The Processing Technician works to implement process changes and system enhancements and participates heavily in quality control over all products the facility furnishes for retail. We are building a strong ethical and team- oriented culture at Ethos Cannabis and are looking for this position to help lead and implement this vision.
We are seeking a passionate, driven, detailed-oriented, and collaborative Processing Technician who is a proven performer that is able and willing to handle new duties, and as a result, can be promoted to broader opportunities within the Company as we grow. The ideal candidate has the ability to adapt to our business model and has demonstrated teamwork experience, as he or she will be given significant responsibility to deliver a best-in-class and innovative cannabis product. Previous cannabis experience is not required, but candidates should have some familiarity and comfortability with cannabis.
Responsibilities
- Conduct all processing steps to obtain finished products safely, efficiently, with the best quality possible.
- Provide support for production functions, including supply and distribution logistics, order process, scheduled production, and inventory management
- Maintain a sanitary and organized inventory of products; effectively compartmentalize strains, batches, and corresponding numeric values to reduce any confusion or mislabeling; facilitate accurate inventory control at all steps
- Correctly utilize appropriate checklists, logs, process flow charts, and standard operating procedures
- Understand areas of production and adhere to strict safety, quality, and production standards
- Assist in keeping operation running with proactive processes
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and all OSHA, state, federal, and local regulations and as well as accident prevention plan that include fire, safety, evacuation, laboratory, etc.
- Ensure product is tested and verified to meet quality standards
- Identify, classify, and report any processing or product deviations
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Support facility initiatives and other duties or specific projects assigned by the Processing Manager
- Report directly to the Processing Manager
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Preferred Experience, Education and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree preferred; prefer Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or other related discipline
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Experience in a laboratory or production environment highly preferred
- Experience in agricultural, product processing, or analysis is a plus
- Practice and understanding of proper and safe handling of hazardous materials
- General knowledge of processing and analytical equipment
- Experience in tracking software
- Work history that demonstrates stability, progressive responsibility, and willingness to accept new duties
- Excellent teambuilding, communication and people skills
- High degree of attention to detail with the ability to be self-directed
- Excellent record-keeping ability
- Effective time-management skills
- High level of integrity and a strong work ethic
- Proficiency in computer usage including MS Office applications, email, scheduling software, online conferencing, and more
- Strong problem-solving skills including anticipatory thinking and the ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a calm composure
- Demonstrated ability to work comfortably and effectively within a diverse, multicultural, multigenerational environment
Other Requirements:
- Must pass stringent background test requirements of state you will be working in. Age requirements; MA 21, OH 21 and PA 18.
- Possess valid driver's license or state ID card; authorized to work in the U.S
Physical Environment Conditions:
- Ability to perform essential job functions for extended periods (8-10 hours per day).
- Frequent activities may include sitting, walking, bending, climbing ladders, reaching, and frequent use of hands for handling, grasping, and repetitive motions.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 55 pounds over a distance of up to 100 feet.
- Work may involve exposure to cannabis odors, airborne particles, fertilizers, and high humidity in cultivation or processing areas.
- Job duties may be performed in retail dispensaries, cultivation rooms, or post-harvest facilities, each with varied lighting and temperature conditions.
Compensation:
- This position is classified as non-exempt and is eligible for overtime pay.
- Pay range is $19.50 - $22.50 per hour.
