Full time positions available. (6pm-6am). Under the directions and supervision of professional and practical nursing staff, performs routine duties in caring for infants through geriatric patients’ needs and unit maintenance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: - Performs routine duties in caring for patients’ needs and activities of daily living, i.e., hygiene, comfort, ambulation.
- Functions as an assistant to the nurse as assigned.
- Documents and maintains data or patient’s record.
- Demonstrates and promotes an awareness of patient’s age, growth, development, and cultural / spiritual.
- Acts as a patient advocate.
- Cooperates as a member of the nursing unit, department and overall hospital team.
- Participates in performance improvement.
- Performs related work as required.
- Communicates pertinent data to appropriate parties.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Conducts himself/herself effectively in stressful situations.
- Approaches situations with distressed patients, families and visitors in a calm, professional manner.
- Maintains a safe and clean environment.
Education: Completion of a state-approved CNA program required. High School Diploma preferred. License/Certification: Certified Nursing Assistant certification required and CPR required. Additional experience preferred: - Current knowledge of clinical practice.
- Ability to operate and handle many kinds of complex equipment: copy machine, intercom system, telephones, computer and fax machine.
- Experience in computer order entry.
- Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for adolescent through geriatric patients.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Effectively handles frequent interruptions and distractions.
