Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant (Short Term Insurance) to manage our financial records and oversee our accounting operations. The incumbent will be supporting our short term insurance business, therefore experience in short term insurance is vital.

The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of our financial data, drive compliance with statutory regulations, and provide valuable insights to support strategic business decisions

This is a 3 year Fixed Term Contract position.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare management accounts.
  • Responsible for the Group Financial Reporting process, this includes ownership of the annual year-end and interim reporting processes.
  • Quarterly and annual preparation of regulatory returns and any other adhoc finance related regulatory requests. Monitor company solvency in the company's solvency targets and regulatory thresholds Group reporting.
  • Ensures monthly, quarterly and annual submission and payments of tax returns. Ensure accurate computation of tax returns.
  • Creates and monitors annual budgets and forecasts, providing regular updates to senior management, reinforcing budgets policies and controls to ensure accuracy and efficiency. 
  • Cash flow management to ensure the business has sufficient liquidity to meet operational expenses.
  • Timely and accurate reconciliation (identified through the lead schedule list) of all balances within the trial balance. 
  • Carry out any adhoc instructions from the Group Finance Manager and Assistant Finance Manager as and when these arise due to changes in circumstances within the finance function or the business.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience dealing with the IFRS17 standard.
  • A Degree in Accounting & Finance or any other relevant degree.
  • Professional qualifications such as Chartered Accountant, or partly qualified accountant.
  • Certificate of Proficiency (COP) in Short Term Insurance.
  • At least 5 or more years’ previous work experience in another financial role.
  • A good understanding of accounting concepts, financial reporting standards and best practices.
  • Strong track record of delivering through others.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting techniques.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
