Job Description

eleQtron develops and operates full-stack quantum computers based on trapped-ion technology. Quantum computing is a new computing paradigm rapidly approaching commercial viability. Our unique approach combines laser-cooled trapped ions with microwave control and tailored magnetic fields. Our next-generation computing machines under development will be able to find solutions to problems that are out of reach today, thus enabling new innovative products and services for a brighter future.

To strengthen our theory team, we are looking for a Theoretical Physicist – Quantum Gate Design & Validation (f/m/d).

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will develop and analyze high-fidelity quantum gate mechanisms for trapped-ion processors. You will contribute to the theoretical modeling of physical interactions, translate them into optimized hardware-aware schemes, and collaborate with the experimental team for their implementation and validation. A key component of the position is contributing to performance benchmarking, ensuring consistency between theoretical predictions, numerical simulations, and experimental results.

  • Develop theoretical models for single- and multi-qubit gate operations

  • Analyze and optimize gate performance under realistic noise conditions

  • Design and refine pulse schemes for robust quantum control

  • Develop effective noise models connecting microscopic physical processes circuit simulators towards QEC and quantum applications

  • Contribute to performance benchmarking and model validation

  • Work at the interface between hardware and theory to guide device development and requirements engineering
