Brighton, Brighton and HovePosition Role Type:
RemoteAt RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defence company, 185,000 great minds are united by purpose and inspired to make a difference solving the world’s most complex problems. With our three market leading businesses, world-class operations and investments in research and development, we offer capabilities and opportunity no one else can. Together, we push the boundaries of known science and find new ways to connect and protect our world.
Collins Aerospace is a global leader in aviation and airport solutions, offering integrated and intelligent systems designed to enhance the passenger experience and improve operational efficiency. Our broad portfolio spans across the entire airport ecosystem, from passenger processing and self-service to complex operational and baggage management solutions.
We are seeking a highly collaborative, forward-leaning Principal Product Manager - Airport Solutions to lead a pivotal transition within our Airport Solutions portfolio. This is a critical, dual-track role where you will be responsible for carefully managing and supporting successful legacy on-premise products, while working shoulder-to-shoulder with your teams to build a vision from scratch for our data-driven, AI-enabled next-generation platforms. This is a fully remote* position for candidates based in the UK.
Role Overview:
As the most experienced member of the product team, you will serve as the senior anchor for the group. Crucially, whilst you will own a specific product line, we need a leader with a fiercely portfolio-first mindset. The existing environment can be heavily siloed, and a primary goal for this role is to break down those barriers. Your success will be measured by your ability to elevate the entire suite of solutions, alongside mentoring the wider team to raise our overall standard of product management.
This is a permanent position with a truly global footprint. You will collaborate daily with cross-functional stakeholders, commercial teams, and engineering pods spread across the UK, the US, and India, requiring high emotional intelligence and a careful, nuanced approach to communication.
What you will do:
Mentorship
Execution & Global Team Collaboration
Act as the senior anchor: As the most experienced product practitioner in the team, you will organically mentor, coach, and elevate the capabilities of those around you, setting the benchmark for product best practices.
Actively work to dismantle organisational silos by fostering cross-pollination of ideas, encouraging shared goals, and acting as a servant leader across distributed engineering and architecture pods in the UK, the US, and India.
Navigate cross-cultural nuances and time zones with high emotional intelligence, ensuring consensus is built carefully rather than dictating terms.
Lead agile, product-led execution by working side-by-side with your teams, championing a value-driven product culture and an innovative mindset that serves the wider portfolio.
Customer Engagement & Market Discovery
Act as a trusted advisor to existing airport operators globally, taking careful ownership of their current pain points and showing patience and empathy when tackling complex legacy issues.
Partner closely with these customers, actively listening to how they use current tools to collaboratively define what the next-generation, AI-driven solution must deliver.
Carefully balance the immediate tactical needs of the legacy user base with the forward-looking innovation required, guiding them smoothly and supportively through periods of transition.
Product Strategy & Total Lifecycle Management
Own the end-to-end product strategy for your solutions, always ensuring that your roadmap prioritises the broader portfolio's success over isolated product metrics.
Build a compelling product vision from scratch for a modern, data-driven solution, collaboratively identifying opportunities to integrate AI and advanced analytics to solve complex aviation challenges across the ecosystem.
Actively manage the ongoing roadmap for our existing legacy products, ensuring they continue to deliver value and meet current market demands.
Plan and manage the eventual, phased sunsetting of legacy systems with immense tact and consideration for the customer impact.
Commercial & Financial Ownership
Take full Profit & Loss (P&L) ownership for your product line, accurately forecasting and actively managing both CAPEX and OPEX spend to ensure sustainable growth and profitability for the broader business.
Define the commercial viability and ROI for the next-gen AI solution, outlining pricing principles and clear, well-supported transition paths for legacy customers.
Equip our global sales, account management, and customer success teams with the correct value propositions and collateral to confidently support existing clients and clearly communicate the new vision.
Skills / Experience you must have:
A seasoned leader & mentor: As one of the most experienced members of the team, you must have a proven track record of upskilling peers, setting high standards, and leading by example without needing to rely on hierarchical authority.
A ‘portfolio-first’ thinker: You look beyond your own product line and have a proven ability to break down silos to unite disparate teams behind a shared, overarching strategy.
A deeply collaborative, team-first mindset: You must possess high emotional intelligence, with a proven ability to listen carefully, build trust, and work seamlessly with diverse engineering and commercial teams.
Strong, proven experience as a Principal Product Manager leading complex enterprise software from strategy through to delivery.
A unique ability to comfortably operate in a dual-track environment: capable of empathetically supporting legacy, on-premise products whilst building a next-generation product vision from scratch.
Demonstrable financial acumen, with a track record of successfully managing a product P&L, including the strategic allocation and tracking of CAPEX and OPEX budgets.
A forward-leaning mindset with demonstrable experience working within data-heavy and AI-driven product environments.
Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with a track record of successfully and carefully aligning cross-cultural teams and stakeholders across the UK, US, and India.
Proficiency using product and engineering tooling (such as Aha! Roadmaps, Azure DevOps, Productboard, or Jira) to plan customer needs and manage quarterly delivery expectations.
Why join us:
