Working as system partners, the Performance and Accountability team helps enable high-quality, equitable care across Ontario by aligning funding, performance oversight, and regional collaboration to strengthen accountability and system improvement.

  • Developing and managing agreements that align funding with system goals and accountability expectations.

  • Advancing performance management practices across the province, including monitoring, target setting, and escalation to support quality improvement.

  • Coordinating engagement across regional teams, provincial partners, and service areas to enable effective collaboration and system improvement.

The Performance and Accountability department within the Sector Support Capacity and Performance portfolio leads Ontario Health’s accountability and performance processes, serving as a key partner to regional teams and internal stakeholders to support high-quality care across the province.

This team develops, issues, and manages Ontario Health funding agreements with hospitals and other health care facilities, while also supporting select non-funding agreements. Working closely with partners in Finance, Legal, Privacy, Analytics, Informatics, and regional teams, the team helps deliver a robust contract management approach that supports more than $3.5B in funding and advances sustainable, evidence-based models of care.

This is a compelling opportunity for a collaborative, analytical professional to influence complex funding and accountability work that helps improve timely, equitable access to care for people across Ontario.

Here is what you will be doing:

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the ongoing management of multiple complex hospital and facility funding agreements, including allocations, reallocations, year-end settlements, and associated reporting requirements.

  • Coordinate services accountability agreement processes across hospitals, primary care, acute care, long-term care, and community care in partnership with regional teams.

  • Support funding operations related to health service funding models and annual planning processes.

  • Collaborate with internal partners to ensure contracts are developed, issued, and managed accurately, efficiently, and on time.

  • Identify risks to timely contract issuance, provide practical recommendations, and help resolve issues in a streamlined manner.

  • Analyze and clearly communicate complex information related to funding, service volumes, performance expectations, and reporting requirements to diverse stakeholders.

  • Partner with Ontario Health programs and regional stakeholders to address performance challenges, monitor concerns, and support appropriate escalation.

  • Develop reports, business cases, communications, presentations, briefing materials, and other deliverables for internal and external audiences.

  • Lead meetings, track action items, and support the successful delivery of initiatives and improvement-focused work.

  • Act as a key liaison and subject matter resource on funding agreements, allocations, and settlements.

  • Support a culture of equity, inclusion, diversity, anti-racism, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff and contribute to cross-functional work across the portfolio.

Here is what you will need to be successful: 

Education and Experience

  • A Master’s degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, or other relevant field is considered an asset.

  • At least three years of related healthcare experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proven track record leading/supporting large-scale projects preferably in a health care environment.

  • Experience working with clinical experts and health care administrators.

  • Experience with contract management, financial analysis and health service funding models is considered an asset.

  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint and MS Teams.

  • Superior attention to detail, organization and time management skills.

  • Strong critical and analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Outstanding communication skills, especially with respect to written communications and presentations.

  • Highly productive and motivated, capable of quality output and able to multitask and prioritize assignments to meet timelines and manage competing priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a dynamic team within a fast-paced environment, using sound judgement.

  • A desire to learn and take on new opportunities.

  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and be committed to organizational health, culture, and values.
