Department Description : The UCSF Division of General Internal Medicine at ZSFG excels in delivering high quality, culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate primary and preventive health care; conducting innovative, population-based and epidemiological research; and training the best doctors of the future. The Division, which houses 30 faculty and 47 staff, aims to deliver innovative, comprehensive and complex primary care to San Francisco’s vulnerable patients; carry out highly impactful translational research to improve the health of vulnerable populations; to engage in meaningful policy work focused on reducing health disparities and ensuring access to care for vulnerable populations; and to train the next generation of physician leaders in (a) the care of the underserved, (b) research and policy for the underserved, and (c) education regarding the care of the underserved.
