Provides leadership and oversight of the daily tasks performed by pharmacy technicians and other support staff. Coordinates the scheduling of work assignments and daily priorities and oversees for operational workflows. Collaborates with other pharmacy leaders to facilitate operational excellence. Performs duties of a pharmacy technician/specialist/coordinator as necessary based on pharmacy practice model.Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides ongoing supervision of pharmacy technicians and support staff to ensure applicable state and federal laws are followed.
- Identifies breakdowns in workflow and re-prioritizes tasks to facilitate timely medication dispensing to patients. Coordinates and triages tasks during planned or unplanned technology downtimes.
- Prepares and distributes work schedules for assigned technical and support staff. Evaluates requests for time off and schedule changes and approves/declines based on policy and established guidelines. Works with pharmacy leaders to ensure adequate staffing models are maintained within budget. Coordinates schedule changes to accommodate call-ins, leaves of absence or other emergent changes in staff availability or work volume. Communicates changes to appropriate individuals in a timely and respectful manner.
- Develops and assesses the compliance of personnel with established policies, procedures, and state and federal laws including documentation and record keeping.
- Identifies areas for process improvement and develops, implements, evaluates and monitors new processes. Leads others through implementation of changes.
- Monitors employee time and attendance to ensure compliance with policy and completes disciplinary follow up as appropriate.
- Creates onboarding plans and leads the onboarding of new staff to ensure mandatory education completion. Creates training plans to ensure staff are adequately trained. Evaluates competencies as aligned with the technician career ladder.
- Performs the functions of team members they oversee as necessary based on pharmacy practice model.
- Provides input for hiring, training, leading, and evaluating staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- Associates degree or equivalent years of experience and education
EXPERIENCE
- Four years experience as a pharmacy technician or relevant healthcare field
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Rare climbing.
