Position Summary: Provides prescribed medications, drugs and other pharmaceuticals as needed for adequate patient care, according to professional standards and practices.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Clinically evaluates patient status and drug therapy, including close screening of individual drug orders and general medication prescribing practices for all patient populations.
Advises physicians on drug selection, dosing, monitoring and prevention of adverse drug events and interactions.
Prepares reports and written documentation as required by the department, company, state and federal agencies.
Supervises support staff and is accountable for compounding and dispensing all medications in accordance with recognized standards of practice, legal requirements and pharmacy department policies and procedures.
Participates in medication utilization evaluations and performance improvement programs.
Participates in the orientation of new staff and student training programs.
Promotes cost effective pharmacotherapy including follow-up on formulary compliance issues.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Follows established departmental policies and procedures, objectives quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in service meetings and workshops.
Attends meetings as required and participate on committees as directed.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Provide pharmacy services with courtesy, efficiency and cooperation.
Job Requirements
Education Required:
Pharm.D. from accredited School of Pharmacy or equivalent B.S. in Pharmacy.
Licenses Required:
CA Pharmacist License
Experience Required:
2 years as a Licensed Registered Pharmacist
Verbal and Written Skills Required to Perform the Job:
Good oral and written communication.
Technical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job:
Detail Oriented
Good clinical knowledge.
Base familiarity with the Medi-Cal program.
Superb organizational ability and exceptionally analytical.
Equipment Used:
Personal Computer, and pharmacy software.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Constant standing, walking and lifting supplies and equipment.
May be required to work evenings and/or weekends.
Driving and occasional travel required.
