Preparation Supervisor (Gladstone)
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Preparation Supervisor to join our Gladstone team. In this role, you will support the Business Manager in delivering high-quality, timely laboratory services, while leading a team to ensure accurate sampling, preparation, analysis, and reporting in line with international standards.
You will play a key role in driving team performance, maintaining strong safety standards, and supporting continuous improvement across operations.
What you will do
- Lead and coordinate daily preparation activities to ensure timely and accurate results
- Supervise coal sample preparation and testing in line with relevant standards
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality systems
- Promote a strong safety culture, including risk identification and mitigation
- Monitor team performance and intervene where required to maintain safe work practices
- Maintain and improve procedures, work instructions, and risk assessments
- Support staff training, development, and competency assessments
- Build strong relationships with internal teams and clients
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and ad-hoc projects
About You
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in coal laboratory operations
- Strong knowledge of sampling, preparation, analysis, validation, and reporting
- Experience with quality and compliance systems
- Cert IV in Training and Assessment (or working towards) highly regarded
- Strong safety mindset with proven risk management capability
- Solid administrative and computer skills (Word, Excel, CCLAS)
- Proven ability to manage priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills
