Job Description

  1. Identify, test, diagnose, and manage disorders of human hearing, balance, and tinnitus; interpret test results of behavioral and objective measures
  2. Counsel patients about hearing health and the possible need for treatment/management
  3. Assess the candidacy of persons with hearing loss for hearing aids and cochlear implants and provide fitting, programming, and audiologic rehabilitation to ensure the best possible outcomes 
  4. Supervise and conduct newborn hearing screening programs
  5. Evaluate and manage children and adults with central auditory processing disorders 
  6. Screen speech-language, the use of sign language, and other factors affecting communication function for the purposes of audiologic evaluation and/or initial identification of individuals with other communication disorders
  7. Perform otoscopic examination of ear canals and ear drum, manage the removal of excessive cerumen, and make ear impressions
  8. Recommend and provide hearing aid selection, fitting, and programming
  9. Recommend and provide hearing assistive technology systems (HATS) 
  10. Recommend and provide audiologic rehabilitation—including speech reading, communication management, language development, and auditory skill development 
  11. Perform assessment and nonmedical management of tinnitus
  12. Counsel and educate patients and families/caregivers on the psychosocial adjustments of hearing loss
  13. Collaborate with educators regarding communication management, educational implications of hearing loss, educational programming, classroom acoustics, and large-area amplification systems for children with hearing loss 
  14. Educate the public on the prevention of hearing loss, tinnitus, and falls
  15. Consult about accessibility for persons with hearing loss in public and private buildings, programs, and services 
  16. Implement and/or coordinate community, school-based, or occupational hearing screening and conservation programs 
  17. Participate in the development of professional and technical standards 
  18. Demonstrate the value of audiologic services by measuring functional outcomes, consumer satisfaction, and effectiveness of treatment
  19. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.
  20. Challenges current working practices, identifies process improvement opportunities and presents recommendations and solutions to management. Engages and commits to the organization’s culture of continuous improvement by actively participating, supporting, and promoting CCHC Pillars of Excellence.
  • Master’s Degree in Audiology required
  • Hearing Aid fitting experience preferred
  • (Preferred) Audiology experience
  • (Preferred) ASHA Certificate in Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A)
  • (Preferred) BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
