OVERVIEW
The Vice President, Small Balance Commercial Servicing (“VP SBC Admin”) is responsible for the management and oversight of all servicing functions for the Small Balance commercial loan portfolio, inclusive of certain consumer loan products such as (but not limited to) payment processing, escrow administration, boarding, investor reporting, and routine loan administration activities.
The portfolio consists of high-volume, lower UPB loans with more standardized structures, requiring a strong focus on operational efficiency, scalability, and process optimization. The VP SBC Admin will drive consistent and accurate servicing performance across a large number of loans through disciplined processes, controls, and reporting. This role will partner with investors to ensure adherence to agreements and reporting requirements while maintaining strong internal controls and operational standards. This role acts as a liaison between servicing operations, investors, originations and all other key internal stakeholders to ensure seamless execution and optimal portfolio performance
This role will also be responsible for aligning service practices, controls and reporting standards across multiple platforms and portfolios alongside the VP of Large Balance Commercial Servicing.
The VP will be responsible for enhancing automation, workflow standardization, and performance metrics to improve productivity and ensure compliance with all applicable loan, investor, and regulatory requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and manage day-to-day servicing operations for a high-volume small balance commercial and consumer loan portfolio, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and scalability of processes.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve standardized servicing workflows (e.g., payment processing, escrow administration, boarding, and loan administration) to drive efficiency and consistency.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) to measure operational effectiveness and team productivity.
- Create, maintain, and enhance servicing reporting packages for investors, internal stakeholders, and portfolio management teams
Ensure data integrity and timely delivery of reports.
- Ability to interpret loan documents and ensure operational compliance with terms and conditions while ensuring compliance with servicing agreements, investor requirements, and applicable regulatory standards; implement controls and monitoring processes to mitigate risk.
- Conduct regular reviews of processes, systems, and controls to identify opportunities for improvement and cost optimization.
- Manage onboarding/boarding of new loans and portfolios, ensuring smooth data integration and operational readiness.
- Oversee escrow administration, including tax and insurance monitoring, ensuring compliance with loan requirements and minimizing risk exposure.
- Collaborate with technology and operations teams to implement automation tools and system enhancements that support high-volume processing and reduce manual effort.
- Handle escalated servicing and operational issues, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Partner with the VP of Large Balance Servicing to promote alignment of servicing practices, policies, and controls across portfolios, maintaining consistency with SHC standards where feasible.
- Partner with originations, asset management, capital markets, and other internal teams to ensure alignment across the loan lifecycle.
- Provide leadership, training, and development to servicing staff; build a team culture focused on efficiency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Real Estate, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in loan servicing, mortgage operations, or commercial real estate finance.
- Prior experience in small balance commercial and/or consumer loan servicing in a high-volume environment strongly preferred.
