Position Summary
Position Summary
Supports the global manufacturing facilities to meet safety, health and environmental compliance regulations set forth by international, federal, state and local agencies. Fosters innovation and continuous improvement of our safety and health goals as well as injury and illness trends towards a goal of zero injuries or environmental issues through colleague engagement. Coordinates the improvement of our legacy Global Safety, Health and Environmental Affairs (SHEA) programs in close collaboration with other global coordinators and our Legal compliance group. Coaches and mentors local facility coordinators and plant leaders in their roles to protect the business and our colleagues’ safety & health.
Responsibilities
Universal Accountabilities
- Leads the development of global Safety and Health goals to support the operations strategy while assuring compliance with the appropriate regulations and corporate policy.
- Monitors changes in regulations to facilitate change at manufacturing locations assuring compliance.
- Practices proactive leadership to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, and financial losses through colleague engagement and innovation.
- Completes safety and health assessments of manufacturing facilities.
- Manages manufacturing facilities to identify and complete effective and timely corrective actions.
- Drives continuous improvement through the streamlining of programs to match our current operations model and best industry practices.
- Communicates, in both written and verbal form, effectively with all necessary company positions, including senior management and hourly colleagues.
- Networks with other SHEA professionals for information exchange and mutual assistance.
- In cooperation with other SHEA leaders, maintains an active Industrial Hygiene program for facilities.
Specific Accountabilities
- Reviews all relevant data (hazards, near misses, and injuries) to ensure focus of efforts is on highest risk areas.
- Provide training to new SHEA site coordinators and assist with training of plant leaders or other colleagues as needed.
- Participates in the annual development of the global operations objectives and plant strategies as requested.
- Works cooperatively with SHEA coordinators and plant leaders before and during incident reviews to ensure corrective actions will prevent future injuries.
- Manages safety & health systems and external suppliers that support programs.
- Participates in cross functional teams as needed.
- Collaborates with SHEA coordinators and other leaders on setting objectives and providing feedback to colleagues
- May utilize leadership skills and experience to lead projects or efforts outside of core functional area that have a larger impact on the business.
- Conducts site audits and assists with finding solutions to identified gaps
- Directs and supports the implementation of new regulations to the impacted facilities.
- Manages contractor safety compliance program.
What we are looking for
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, General Sciences (or related field) and/or Environmental Science, or significant applicable experience
- Must possess fluency in both Polish and English
- Ideally possess 5 years related experience in Occupational Safety & Health roles
- Must have some experience in a manufacturing environment
- Prior experience in, and responsibility for, safety and health programs
- Highly proficient in collaborative and cooperative engagement with all levels of the organization
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Current certifications in, or in pursuit of, any of the following certifications: (1) Certified Safety Professional (CSP), (2) Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) Need EU equivalents
- Experience with influencing organization leaders and managers
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills that lead to well-developed action plans that have cross-functional alignment
- Highly principled in Occupational Safety & Health methodologies with the ability to mentor other leaders in the organization to adopt these core tenets
- SPC & data analytics in an industrial or manufacturing environment (ie. Minitab)
- Functional comprehension of CE regulations and associated EU policies and regulations
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations
Working Relationships
- Self-starter, working with minimal guidance.
- Collaborates and beneficially engages with peers globally.
- Works closely with Legal compliance group.
- Supports plant leaders at global manufacturing locations.
