Position Summary/Objective
The Processing Packaging Technician supports the day-to-day operations of packaging and storing finished processed products while assisting the post-harvest team with trimming, harvesting, and other activities as needed. This role requires a detail-oriented, team-focused individual with strong communication skills who can uphold quality standards and maintain organization in all tasks.
Processing Packaging Technicians play a key role in quality control, inventory management, and ensuring proper documentation across the processing, post-harvest, and fulfillment teams. Their attention to detail, ability to follow standard operating procedures, and commitment to a sanitary, organized workplace are critical to minimizing errors and ensuring the proper handling of products.
We are seeking a driven, adaptable, and collaborative individual who is eager to contribute to our mission. Cannabis cultivation experience is not required, but candidates must be proactive, reliable, and capable of learning our business model. This role reports to the Processing Manager.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the day-to-day packaging of finished processed products, ensuring proper storage and labeling to maintain product integrity.
- Conduct thorough inspections of packaged products to ensure they meet facility standards, minimizing errors and maintaining high-quality and efficient output.
- Support the post-harvest department as needed, including trimming, harvesting, sorting, and preparing products for packaging.
- Maintain accurate records and perform inventory control at all stages, with careful attention and presence of mind to prevent mislabeling.
- Perform regular cleaning, sanitizing, and environmental checks to ensure all areas, tools, and equipment meet cleanliness standards.
- Follow standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with facility and state guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with team members across processing, post-harvest, and fulfillment teams to minimize errors and foster a safe, productive workplace.
- Protect finished products from waste or loss, properly dispose of waste materials, and ensure adherence to safety and quality regulations.
- Demonstrate adaptability and a willingness to learn, contributing to ongoing process improvements and supporting the standard of Ethos Excellence.
- Participate in additional tasks to support processing, fulfillment, or organizational goals as directed by management.
Qualifications
Preferred Experience, Education and Skills:
- Experience in the cannabis industry is valued but not required
- Previous experience with inventory software, Excel, and Google spreadsheets
- Work history that demonstrates stability, progressive responsibility, and willingness to accept new duties
- Excellent teambuilding, communication and people skills
- High degree of attention to detail with the ability to be self-directed
- Excellent record-keeping ability
- Effective time-management skills
- High level of integrity and a strong work ethic
- Proficiency in computer usage including MS Office applications, email, scheduling software, online conferencing, and more
- Strong problem-solving skills including anticipatory thinking and the ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a calm composure
- Demonstrated ability to work comfortably and effectively within a diverse, multicultural, multigenerational environment
- Extended time sitting, walking, bending, and reaching is possible
Physical Environment Conditions:
- Ability to perform essential job functions for extended periods (8-10 hours per day).
- Frequent activities may include sitting, walking, bending, climbing ladders, reaching, and frequent use of hands for handling, grasping, and repetitive motions.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 55 pounds over a distance of up to 100 feet.
- Work may involve exposure to cannabis odors, airborne particles, fertilizers, and high humidity in cultivation or processing areas.
- Job duties may be performed in retail dispensaries, cultivation rooms, or post-harvest facilities, each with varied lighting and temperature conditions.
Compensation:
- This position is classified as non-exempt and is eligible for overtime pay.
- Starting pay is $19.00 per hour.
