How you’ll make an impact in this role
Role & Scope: Serves as the primary educator for the St. Alexius Medical Center Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit, with occasional travel required to other Ascension Illinois ministries.
Core Functions: Operates within the American Nurses Professional Development (ANPD) Practice Model to act as a Learning Facilitator, Mentor, Change Agent, and Partner for Practice Transitions.
Program Development: Responsible for analyzing, developing, implementing, and evaluating nursing and clinical educational programs, utilizing specialized tools to measure the achievement of learning goals.
Collaboration & Support: Partners with leadership, preceptors, and staff to assess educational needs, manage core competencies, and support onboarding, evidence-based practice, and quality initiatives.
Skills & Teamwork: Requires strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills, along with a readiness to collaborate with the broader Critical Care CPD team to support market-wide needs.
What minimum requirements you’ll need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Education:
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required
Work Experience:
- Required professional licensure at time of hire
What additional preferences we're seeking
Education & Licensure: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license are required, while a Master's degree is preferred.
Clinical Background: Prior nursing experience in Critical Care and/or an Emergency Department setting is highly preferred.
Instructional & Leadership Experience: Candidates are preferred to have a background in precepting, leadership, or professional development. This includes knowledge of adult learning principles and the ANPD Practice Model, as well as hands-on experience managing onboarding, residencies, competencies, and facilitating both virtual and in-person education.
