Job Description

Position Summary

The Assistant Grocery Manager supports the Grocery Manager in overseeing daily operations of the Grocery Department, ensuring strong product availability, effective merchandising, and an exceptional shopping experience. This role helps drive sales, manage inventory, and lead associates to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Department Operations
    • Assist in managing daily grocery operations including stocking, facing, and merchandising
    • Ensure shelves are fully stocked and aligned with planograms
    • Maintain organization of backroom and sales floor areas
  • Customer Service Excellence
    • Deliver and uphold high standards of customer service
    • Address and resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally
    • Ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment
  • Inventory & Ordering
    • Support ordering to maintain proper stock levels and minimize out-of-stocks
    • Assist with inventory control, shrink reduction, and product rotation (FIFO)
    • Monitor movement of high-volume and promotional items
  • Team Leadership & Support
    • Supervise, train, and support grocery associates
    • Delegate tasks and ensure completion of daily priorities
    • Provide coaching, feedback, and recognition
  • Merchandising & Sales
    • Execute ad displays, endcaps, and promotional sets
    • Ensure pricing accuracy and signage compliance
    • Support sales growth through strong execution
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards
    • Maintain food safety and sanitation practices
    • Promote a safe working environment
Qualifications
  • Previous grocery or retail experience required
  • Supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
