Eaton’s Electrical Services & Systems (EESS) division is looking for a Power System Advisory Engineer with expertise in power system grounding. This position is ideal for a technical leader passionate about advancing electrical system safety, reliability, and resilience. You will provide expert guidance and lead engineering studies involving grounding assessments, ground grid design, lightning protection, and power quality. Working alongside a team of industry experts, you will deliver innovative consulting solutions that help customers optimize their power systems and support the development of a smarter, more resilient grid for the future. This role can be hybrid out of any Eaton facility in the U.S. or this role can be remote. Anticipated travel for this role will be 25%.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $113,000 - $165,000 a year.

What you’ll do:
• As a Subject Matter Expert, you'll apply your expertise in executing, leading, overseeing, and managing engineering studies for electric distribution systems including power system grounding assessment, ground grid design, lightning protection, power quality, and other power system studies.
• Use relevant industry experience to engage with clients to understand their specific applications, approaches and methodologies in the area of power system grounding and power quality.
• Acquire and maintain required safety certification for access to and work on the customer sites.
• Serve as a lead in on-site data collection, report presentations and delivery of related training where applicable. Provide technical advisory services especially for power system grounding, design, and protection.
• Provide strategic input in identification of and securing business with prospective customers,
• Interface with customers, sales, outside vendors, manufacturing plants, product divisions, and functional support staff in procuring respective services and consulting. Contribute to business development efforts, including preparation of proposal and marketing materials, to support the overall vision and goals of the Power System Solution team.
• Participate in development and delivery of training.
Qualifications:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution and 8 years of proven experience in a consulting or technical advisory capacity with a proven track record.
- Expertise in lightning protection and all aspects of grounding systems for industrial facilities, critical infrastructure, data centers, utilities, etc – from ground grid design and soil resistivity interpretation, to ground fault current analysis, and grounding protection schemes (e.g., high-resistance and low-resistance grounding of neutrals)
- Advanced knowledge of power system studies, for example: power system short circuit, coordination, arc flash studies, transient stability, dynamic studies, reliability studies, risk assessment techniques, power quality study, power system grounding assessment study, ground grid design, and lightning protection.
- Advanced knowledge of power systems analysis software tools such as SKM, EasyPower, ETAP, CDEGS, PSCAD, or similar
- Familiar with electrical codes and standards (e.g., IEEE Std 80)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering
- Working knowledge of application concepts of Protection, Controls and Communications in Power systems, power electronics (inverters, UPS systems), and various applicable switching technologies,
- Understanding of existing applicable standards, including but not limited to IEEE 1548, California Rule 21, IEEE Std. 1547 (with latest additions),
- Experience performing harmonic load flow and power factor correction; proficiency in more advanced studies such as voltage transient, dynamic stability, ground grid studies desirable,
- Familiarity with microgrid design and hardware-in-the-loop simulation is a plus.
- Familiarity with power generation concepts and control, best engineering practices in design of power distribution design and analysis,
- Professional credentials: Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering
- Active leadership in a technical or industry committees, and proven track record in participation of standard working groups, associations, publishing of technical paper
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and presentation skills, and business acumen with proven record of formulating value proposition with customers
Position Criteria:
• Successfully complete and maintain compliance with Eaton’s safety program and policies; This includes role-applicable portions of the EESS Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) program and any required annual re-certifications thereafter.
• Maintain availability for travel & mobility 25% of time
• Periodically submit to customer required background and drug screenings
• Demonstrate a strong customer focus and interpersonal skills
• Advise customers on technical opportunities/issues
