Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-driven Banquet Manager to lead the execution of meetings, weddings, and social events in a high-volume, upscale hotel environment in downtown Detroit. This role is responsible for ensuring seamless event operations, delivering exceptional guest experiences, and leading a professional banquet team.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversee all banquet and event operations from setup through breakdown
- Execute events according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) with precision and attention to detail
- Lead, train, and schedule banquet staff to ensure service standards are met
- Collaborate with Sales, Culinary, and Event Planning teams to ensure flawless execution
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and service timing
- Manage labor costs, staffing levels, and inventory of banquet equipment
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and liquor regulations
- Handle guest interactions professionally, resolving issues quickly and effectively
- Uphold brand standards and create memorable guest experiences
- Additional duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent observational skills and situational awareness.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 3–5+ years of banquet or event management experience in a hotel, upscale restaurant, or conference center
- Experience managing large-scale events (100–300+ guests) preferred
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Knowledge of POS systems, BEO management, and event operations
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements:
- Continuously reach, bend, lift, carry, stoop, and wipe.
- Must be able to walk/stand for entire shift.
- Must be able to lift to 50 pounds.
- Ability to traverse all parts of the property quickly.
- Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages in accordance with Federal and State laws.
