Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES
Cost Accounting & Analysis
- Develop and maintain standard costs for products and services.
- Perform variance analysis and provide insights into operations and supply chain teams.
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation and cost of goods sold reporting.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes with cost-related entries and reconciliations.
Financial Planning & Support
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities related to manufacturing costs.
- Analyze cost trends and KPIs to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Provide financial data and analysis to support strategic initiatives and capital investment decisions.
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and corporate accounting policies.
- Support internal and external audits with cost accounting documentation and analysis.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for cost accounting processes.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Collaborate on ERP system enhancements related to cost accounting.
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline cost accounting workflows and improve data accuracy.
- Support the Controller in driving continuous improvement initiatives aligned with the Crane Business System.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3-5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- High integrity and alignment with Crane’s core values and ethical standards.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Master’s degree is a plus.
