Quality Engineering Technician
Job Description
Shift: 2 positions - 1 day shift, 1 swing shift
About 1X
We’re building humanoid robots that work in home - doing the chores, handling the tasks, and giving people their time back. Simple, but it’s not.
To do this right, we have to solve robotics, AI, manufacturing - at the same time, at scale, in a form factor that has to be safe enough to live with your family. If you’re inspired by this, you’ll thrive here. We’ve been at this since 2014 and we’re at the point where the hard problems are behind us and the hard work is in front of us.
NEO is our flagship - a home robot designed to move, learn, and operate in the real world alongside real people. We’re not demoing it - we’re shipping it. We’re excited to meet you, if this excites you.
If you’ve spent your career working on problems that matter and want to see them actually reach the world - this is that moment. We’re scaling, we’re hiring with intention, and we need people who want to build something that will genuinely change how humans spend their time - safely creating abundance for all.
About the Team
The Quality team is responsible for ensuring every component, assembly, and robot meets the standards required to operate safely and reliably in the real world. Working closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations, the team identifies issues early, drives containment, and helps improve product quality as we scale from prototypes to high-volume production.
Your Charter
As a Quality Engineering Technician, you will own incoming inspection activities and support the identification, containment, and resolution of quality issues across our manufacturing operations. Your work will ensure that only qualified materials enter production while providing the data and technical insight needed to continuously improve product quality and manufacturing processes.
Key Outcomes
Maintain timely incoming inspection and material disposition activities to prevent production disruptions.
Drive containment and escalation of nonconforming materials, ensuring issues are clearly documented and resolved.
Deliver accurate inspection data and technical findings that enable engineering and supplier quality improvements.
Support rapid root cause investigations by providing clear problem statements, inspection results, and failure analysis data.
Maintain inspection equipment, tooling, and calibration records to ensure reliable and repeatable quality assessments.
Key Competencies
Strong hands-on troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills in manufacturing environments.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, electrical schematics, and manufacturing documentation.
Detail-oriented approach with a high standard for documentation accuracy and quality execution.
Ability to communicate technical findings clearly across engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams.
Self-motivated and capable of managing priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Requirements
3+ years of hands-on quality, manufacturing, or engineering technician experience.
Experience performing inspections and investigating quality issues in a production environment.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical specifications.
Experience using inspection and test equipment such as calipers, multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, or similar tools.
Preferred Skills
Experience supporting robotics, automation, consumer electronics, automotive, or other electromechanical products.
Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical or electromechanical assemblies.
