
LAS Mechanical Compressor Technician II
Job Description
Primary Purpose
Executes a wide range of routine operating tasks, applying established methods to keep equipment available and data accurate. Resolves common issues by selecting from known options and preparing thorough tickets for escalation when needed. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and completing operations and maintenance tasks/projects related to gas compressors and related mechanical equipment at a gas storage facility. This position requires the incumbent to work independently with minimal supervision, work other than normal work hours, respond to callouts, and may be subject to shift assignments.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Starts, stops, and operates compressor units and auxiliary systems; adjusts within prescribed limits to maintain flow and pressure.
- Performs routine checks on engines, compressors, separators, coolers, and dehydration equipment; documents results.
- Replaces basic components (filters, gaskets) and replenishes fluids following standard procedures.
- Train and lead other field O&M employees, both on technical and company administrative and operation policies and procedures.

Coordinates and communicates with vendors, contractors, encroachers, etc. to order materials or parts and scheduling work for repairs.

Assists with planned maintenance windows (equipment preparations, isolation support, post‑start checks).
- Maintains tidy tool and parts areas; updates inventory counts for consumables used during routine tasks.
- Troubleshoots mechanical problems.
- Evaluates and optimizes mechanical efficiencies.
- Completes required paperwork: reports, requisitions, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
