Job Description

  • Facilitates all Scrum events (Sprint planning, stand-ups, sprint reviews, sprint retrospective) for one or more teams.
  • Ensures that Scrum practices are followed, fostering engagement, and promoting productive discussions that result in actionable outcomes while maintaining meeting effectiveness and time management.
  • Promotes agile methodologies and Scrum best practices through hands-on coaching and knowledge sharing sessions.
  • Helps teams embrace and understand agile values and principles and guides them in applying Scrum practices to deliver high-quality iterative results.
  • Works closely with team members to identify challenges in implementing agile practices and provides practical solutions to overcome them.
  • Analyzes team retrospective feedback to identify bottlenecks, potential risks and optimization opportunities within Scrum teams.
  • Implements process enhancement strategies to increase team productivity and delivery quality.
  • Collaborates with teams to identify areas for improvement and foster a culture of experimentation with new agile techniques.
  • Tracks improvement outcomes through sprint metrics and establishes best practices that enhance workflow and reduce cycle time.
  • Collaborates with the product owner to ensure product backlog is well defined and clearly communicated to the development team.
  • Regularly updates stakeholders on the team’s progress and manages expectations.
  • Ensures transparency regarding sprint goals, delivery timelines and potential risks.
  • Conducts sprint reviews and stakeholder demos and manages stakeholder feedback integration.
  • Maintains stakeholder confidence through proactive communication and expectation management.
  • Identities, tracks and resolves team-level blockers including technical dependencies, resource constraints, and coordination issues through proactive stakeholder engagement and escalation management.
  • Collaborates with product owners and stakeholders to identify recurring impediments and work on long-term solutions.
  • Escalates complex impediments to management when necessary while providing alternative solutions to maintain team velocity and sprint commitments and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. 5 years of related experience. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
Skills & Abilities

Strong understanding of scrum principles, agile methodologies, and their application in real-world settings. Ability to drive agile transformation across teams and advocate for agile practices at all levels. Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex IT concepts in an understandable manner and manage stakeholder relationships. Possesses problem-solving skills and ability to identify and resolve issues quickly to prevent impediments from hindering the team’s progress. Possesses solid knowledge and understanding of business metrics and the ability to align company goals and objectives with agile strategies and initiatives. Demonstrates ability to empower and motivate Scrum teams, fostering a culture of transparency and collaboration. Strong analytical skills and the ability to track and use agile metrics (velocity, burndown charts, cycle time). Demonstrates a proactive approach to innovation by identifying and applying emerging technologies to improve efficiency, quality and process optimization.

Background Check and Drug Testing Information

CDM Smith Inc. and its divisions and subsidiaries (hereafter collectively referred to as “CDM Smith”) reserves the right to require background checks including criminal, employment, education, licensure, etc. as well as credit and motor vehicle when applicable for certain positions. In addition, CDM Smith may conduct drug testing for designated positions. Background checks are conducted after an offer of employment has been made in the United States. The timing of when background checks will be conducted on candidates for positions outside the United States will vary based on country statutory law but in no case, will the background check precede an interview. CDM Smith will conduct interviews of qualified individuals prior to requesting a criminal background check, and no job application submitted prior to such interview shall inquire into an applicant's criminal history. If this position is subject to a background check for any convictions related to its responsibilities and requirements, employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation including criminal history. Criminal history will not automatically disqualify a candidate. In addition, during employment individuals may be required by CDM Smith or a CDM Smith client to successfully complete additional background checks, including motor vehicle record as well as drug testing.
