Software Engineering Lead Analyst

Overview 

Cigna International Health is seeking a skilled Cloud Data Engineer to architect, develop, and optimise robust data solutions on cloud platforms. This role is pivotal in building and maintaining the foundational data infrastructure that supports scalable, secure, and high-performance applications for our UAE operations. 

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to drive our software development and cloud infrastructure efforts in creating high-quality, scalable applications. The ideal candidate will engineer technical solutions, produce clean code, and ensure successful delivery of software solutions aligned with business goals. 

Responsibilities 

Technical Leadership:  

• Design and implement scalable solutions on AWS, build and maintain data pipelines and cloud-native processing systems.  

• Provide technical direction and ownership of the API stack discipline within the application development.  

• Define and implement software engineering strategy aligned with the overall business and product objectives. 

• Contribute across design, development, deployment and support of cloud-based application. 

• Help define and enforce applications development standards, policies, and best practices. 

Mentoring:  

• Lead and mentor junior software development team members, fostering a culture of innovation, automation, collaboration, and excellence. 

• Take an active part in career development and performance of junior software development team members.  

Project Delivery:  

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and execute software projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. 

• Execute project plans and application designs to ensure projects are aligned with standards and IT strategy. 

• Follow the design principles, and development best practices to ensure scalable, secure, and efficient solutions, collaborating with other senior leads. 

Requirements 

Experience: 

• 6+ years in software/data engineering roles, with a strong track record in cloud-native data solutions. 

• Proven expertise in AWS services (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, S3, IAM, KMS, ECS/EKS, CloudFront, ALB/NLB). 

• Hands-on experience with Terraform (or similar IaC tools) for provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure. 

• Strong data engineering skills, including building and optimising ETL/ELT pipelines. 

• Proficiency in SQL (preferred) and Python/Pyspark (required for automation and data processing). 

• Experience with API development, security (OAuth 2.0, JWT), and documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger). 

• Experience in Databricks is a plus. 

• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI). 

Leadership & Communication: 

• Demonstrated ability to mentor technical teams. 

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills. 

Education: 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software/Data Engineering, or a related field. 

Desirable: 

• Knowledge of data platforms and governance, experience in Databricks as engineer is a plus. 

• Experience working in regulated environments or with multi-region/multi-currency systems. 

• Familiarity with agile methodologies and iterative delivery. 

• Exposure to Jira or similar project management tools.
