Koniag Operations Services, LLC a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced Safety Representative III to provide comprehensive field support for multiple Safety & Occupational Health (SOH) programs. This position requires security clearance and will support government operations in ensuring compliance with safety regulations and maintaining a culture of workplace safety. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of safety standards, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
The Safety Representative III will serve as a field safety professional responsible for implementing and maintaining comprehensive Safety & Occupational Health programs across multiple facilities. This position requires a proactive approach to safety management and the ability to work with various stakeholders. Principal responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Provide field support for multiple Safety & Occupational Health (SOH) programs across assigned facilities and work sites
Schedule, perform, and document various types of safety and occupational health inspections to evaluate compliance of buildings, facilities, and equipment with applicable regulations and standards
Conduct thorough assessments of workplace conditions, equipment, and practices to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols
Perform safety data input and verification using computer and web-based software applications, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all safety-related documentation
Research, develop, and create comprehensive training materials including PowerPoint presentations, brochures, pamphlets, and other educational resources on employee and facility safety topics
Develop lessons learned documentation and mishap protection and prevention materials based on incident investigations and industry best practices
Track, maintain, and manage government-furnished inventories of consumable safety materials such as monitoring media, replacement sensors, and other safety equipment
Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, usage rates, and procurement needs for safety supplies and equipment
Coordinate and conduct safety training sessions for employees, contractors, and visitors as required
Prepare detailed inspection reports, findings, and recommendations for corrective actions
Collaborate with facility managers, supervisors, and safety personnel to address identified deficiencies and implement corrective measures
Monitor compliance with established safety programs and regulatory requirements
Utilize creativity and independent judgment to plan and accomplish safety program goals
Respond to safety inquiries and provide technical guidance on safety-related matters
Participate in safety meetings, committees, and program reviews as assigned
Education and Experience:
Required:
Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in the area of safety and occupational health or closely related field (i.e., industrial hygiene) OR
Bachelor's degree with at least 2-4 years of experience in safety and occupational health or closely related field
Must possess or be able to obtain within 60 days of assignment the following Navy courses or their equivalent:
General Industry Standards (Navy Course A-493-0061)
Introduction to HAZMAT Ashore Global On Line (Navy Course A-493-0331)
Electrical Safety Standards (Navy Course A-493-0033)
Clearance Requirement:
Must possess or be able to obtain a Secret security clearance
Must be able to pass a T3 Background Investigation
Preferred:
Associate's degree with at least 6-8 years of experience in safety and occupational health or closely related field
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field with 2-4 years of experience
Completion of the following Navy courses or their equivalent:
Fire Protection and Life Safety (Navy Course A-493-0075)
Machinery and Machine Guarding (Navy Course A-493-0073)
Required Skills and Competencies:
Exceptional knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the safety field
Comprehensive understanding of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements
Strong proficiency in conducting safety inspections and evaluating facility compliance
Excellent computer skills with experience in safety data management systems and web-based software applications
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint, Word, and Excel for creating training materials and documentation
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare clear, concise reports and training materials
Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, record-keeping, and documentation
Ability to research and synthesize safety information from various sources
Creativity and innovation in developing training materials and safety communications
Physical ability to conduct field inspections including walking, climbing, and accessing various facility areas
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
Problem-solving skills with ability to identify hazards and recommend practical solutions
Experience with inventory management and tracking systems
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
Current or ability to obtain Secret security clearance
Desired Skills and Competencies:
Professional safety certification (CSP, CHST, OHST, or ASP)
Experience working in a government contracting or military installation environment
Familiarity with Navy safety programs, policies, and procedures
Knowledge of industrial hygiene principles and monitoring techniques
Experience with fire protection and life safety systems
Understanding of machinery guarding requirements and machine safety standards
Experience with HAZMAT management and compliance programs
Proficiency in additional safety management software systems
Training certification or instructional design experience
First Aid/CPR certification
Knowledge of environmental compliance requirements
Experience with mishap investigation and root cause analysis methodologies
Familiarity with DoD safety requirements and standards
Advanced degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
