The Test Development Engineer is responsible for pre and post silicon validation of Qualcomm IPs, ensuring they meet new product introduction milestones and are ready for mass production.
This role requires a strong understanding of hardware and software, along with analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills to create test systems, execute tests, and troubleshoot issues. Collaboration with Qualcomm cross-functional teams, such as Digital Design, Analog Design, and Firmware/Software Engineers, is essential to develop and implement IP test and characterisation plans. Focus areas include Analog/Digital Audio, Power Management Units (PMU), battery charger, radio, and auxiliary functions.
The TD Engineer must manage tasks effectively and ensure timely delivery in line with business requirements, executing with minimal guidance from senior team members
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to requirements capture and programme reviews.
Collaborate with stakeholders to develop test plans, identify hardware/software test resources and implementation strategy.
Develop and optimize production test solutions for analog and digital IPs across V&M sub-systems.
Develop hardware/software test systems, including programming and specialized support of semiconductor automatic test equipment (UltraFlex ATE).
Use of standard lab equipment (power supplies, spectrum analysers, signal generators, etc.)
Deliver high quality hardware, software and documentation in line with the department’s processes.
Conduct peer reviews for test scripts, data analysis scripts and hardware.
Participate in pre‑silicon emulation, post‑silicon bring-up, validation, and compliance testing activities.
Proactively collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and successful delivery of tasks.
Debug of hardware including defect investigation.
Development of small geometry digital test suites
Perform issue investigation, yield improvement, test time reduction, and test program quality analysis.
Collate, summarise, and present data for technical and program level reviews.
Required Skills
Ability to develop code in Python, C and Visual Basic
A good knowledge of analogue and digital semiconductor circuits
A good knowledge of Analog and Digital Audio, Power Management Units (PMU), Battery charger
Knowledge of Bluetooth radio architectures
Knowledge of equipment such as power supplies, Multimeters, oscilloscopes, audio analysers, signal generators, spectrum analysers
Ability to draw inferences and highlight key points from a dataset.
Demonstrate analytical problem-solving skills.
Ability to collaborate closely with Digital, Analog, Firmware, DFT, VI and Systems teams to ensure timely delivery aligned with program milestones.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.OR
Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 1+ year of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field.
Preferred Skills
Experience of working in a test lab
Experience with RTL verification, UVM/OVM, SV assertions.
Familiarity with software revision control (Perforce , DesignSync, Clearcase, Clearquest) Jira tools
Minimum qualification
Master’s Degree in a relevant engineering discipline from an internationally recognized institution or Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering discipline with at least 1 year relevant experience
