Role
The Pastry Chef is responsible for leading the preparation and production of high-quality pastry and dessert offerings. This role combines culinary artistry with operational management to ensure exceptional guest experiences and smooth kitchen operations.
Responsibility
Innovate and design new pastry concepts, recipes, and artistic presentations
Supervise pastry preparation and shift operations, ensuring compliance with standards and policies
Prepare and cook a variety of pastries and desserts for daily service and special events
Ensure compliance with food safety laws, hygiene practices, and cleanliness standards
Create decorative food displays and maintain high presentation quality
Deliver exceptional guest experiences, anticipating needs and exceeding expectations
Lead, train, and motivate pastry staff, providing coaching and feedback
Manage purchasing, receiving, and inventory of supplies within budget
Maintain proper food handling, storage, and portion control standards
Implement waste reduction strategies and cost efficiency measures
Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring quality and consistency
Foster teamwork, respect, and collaboration among employees
Serve as a role model, demonstrating professionalism and high standards
Establish open communication channels and address employee concerns promptly
Participate in meetings and contribute to organizational goals
Develop and execute plans to achieve performance, budget, and team objectives
Requirements
Degree or Diploma in Pastry & Baking, Culinary Arts, or a related field.
Good command of spoken English
Experience as a Pastry Chef or in a similar role within a professional kitchen, preferably in 5-star hotels or luxury resorts.
Strong knowledge of baking techniques, dessert presentation, chocolate work, pastry arts, and modern plating styles.
Ability to create innovative dessert menus while maintaining consistency and quality standards.
Ability to lead, train, and supervise the pastry team; manage daily operations, stock control, and cost efficiency.
Strong understanding of food safety standards, HACCP, and hygiene regulations.
Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and meet production deadlines.
Good teamwork spirit with effective communication skills.
Willing to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
