Fire Safety Specialist II (Haz-Mat) As a Fire Safety Specialist II (Haz-Mat) within the Department of Public Safety, you will have a variety of responsibilities and duties which includes, but is not limited to: Provide training in hazardous materials emergency response Respond to hazardous materials emergencies as a liaison/ technical expert Develop curriculum for hazardous materials response training Attend training as needed Provide public presentations on hazardous materials safety Inspect facilities for code compliance as needed Supplemental Information: -A valid driver license required to drive a motor vehicle on a highway in this state per UCA53-3-202(1)(a). -An extensive background check is performed on the candidate who is selected for the position. -Only applicants selected for an interview will be contacted. -Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc. -Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
