Job Description
The PMO Director is responsible for the successful execution of a portfolio of customer programs within Forj Medical. This role leads a team of Program Managers and owns portfolio‑level delivery across proposal development, design and engineering execution, and the transition to long‑term production programs.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio & Program Leadership
Own the execution and performance of a defined portfolio of customer programs
Support project level P&L ownership across the business to drive accountability to both customer deliverables and internal business commitments.
Provide leadership and oversight across multiple concurrent complex projects, balancing scope, schedule, budget, and resource capacity.
People Leadership
Lead, coach, and develop a team of Project Managers responsible for individual projects within the portfolio. Set clear expectations for execution discipline, customer communication, risk management, and reporting.
Lead staffing, performance management, and professional development within their team and across the PMO.
Lead resource planning across the Design & Engineering portfolio
Proposal Development & Early Customer Engagement
Accountable for proposal development for new customer opportunities, collaborating with PMO, Business Development (BD), Engineering, and Operations to define scope, timelines, financial assumptions, and technical pathways.
Serve as the primary execution leader during early customer engagements, ensuring a seamless transition from pitch to contract award and program kickoff.
Program Execution & Phase Ownership
Ensure disciplined execution of Design & Engineering Statements of Work, inclusive of external manufacturing transfers.
Maintain accountability for scope, schedule, budget, & quality across the portfolio
Maintain a continuous improvement mindset to work cross-functionally to identify and close opportunities to improve our ability to deliver positive outcomes for customers and Forj Medical
Drive consistency across the business with respect to program execution and cross-functional interactions
Customer Engagement & Voice of the Customer
Act as a senior customer interface & escalation point for program execution.
Partner with the Commercial team to ensure Voice of the Customer (VOC) feedback is continuously captured, reviewed, and integrated into program delivery.
Use execution insights to inform customer engagement strategies, future opportunities, and portfolio planning.
Long‑Term Program Support
Ensure a clear ownership transition from NPI team to ongoing production team
Partner with Account Management and Operations to ensure continuity and stability in long‑term production programs.
Retain escalation & governance oversight as required to support customer success.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Escalation Management
Lead cross‑functional program execution across Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations.
Act as the primary escalation point for program challenges, engaging appropriate SMEs to resolve issues efficiently.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Life Sciences, Business, or related field or 8-10 years of equivalent experience
5–8+ years in leadership roles managing PMO or large portfolios
12–15+ years of experience in project/program management preferred
Experience in med-tech, medical device, or regulated manufacturing environments
Direct exposure to CDMO or contract manufacturing operations (strongly preferred)
Experience with:
PM tools: Jira, MS Project, etc.
ERP/MRP: Epicor, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent
New Product Introduction (NPI)
Capacity planning and production scheduling
Demonstrated experience with data, financial, & performance management
Certifications (preferred):
PMP (Project Management Professional)
Agile / Scrum certification (SAFe, PMI-ACP, etc.)
