Salary based on Level 7 ($114,853 - $134,302) of the current terms and conditions of employment for program directors
47 weeks per year
Reports to Director of Student Services
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in the development of principles and strategies that will result in meaningful involvement of parents or guardians in the educational process.
- Assists in the development of MTSS, PBIS, and curriculum and instruction.
- Assists in the development of strategies that convey an attitude of respect for what parents or guardians and school personnel bring to a working partnership.
- Addresses compliance with state and federal laws and rules regarding education and the rights of students with disabilities.
- Implements strategies to promote school-community relations and parent-school relations.
- Develops conflict management and dispute resolution tools and procedures.
- Implements program planning, design, implementation, evaluation activities, including data collection and data analysis.
- Develops and implements special education procedures consistent with school policy, state and federal laws and rules and case law regarding education.
- Reviews and shares effectiveness research and its effect on instructional programs with special education staff.
- Facilitates the use of technology tools designed to deliver instruction and manage student instructional data.
- Oversees Extended School Year.
- Will be traveling within RAS schools on a daily basis.
- Lead and Manage special education teams at each school.
- Attend and facilitate monthly leadership meetings within each building.
- Conducts observations and evaluations of special education staff.
- Assists with special education staff absences and revising schedules.
- Attend and monitor 287 student referrals, intakes and IEP meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Minnesota license as director of special education.
- Two years of administrative experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively in diverse settings.
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely in both written and verbal communication.
- Able to attend work regularly and report to work in a timely manner.
