Position Overview

United Health Services is seeking a compassionate and dependable Nursing Assistant to join our fast-paced Emergency Department team.

In this role, you’ll provide direct, hands-on care to patients experiencing urgent and often critical health needs, helping create a calm, supportive environment during some of life’s most stressful moments.

As a Nursing Assistant in the Emergency Department, every action you take matters. From assisting with basic care to responding quickly to patient needs, your attentiveness, empathy, and teamwork play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality care. Your ability to stay calm under pressure and offer reassurance can make a meaningful difference for patients and their families.

About the Role

The Emergency Department is a dynamic, high-energy environment where no two shifts are the same. You’ll work alongside nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to care for patients with a wide range of conditions—from minor injuries to critical emergencies—across both Wilson and BGH campuses.

Work Locations:

UHS Wilson Medical Center, Johnson City, NY UHS Binghamton General Hospital, Binghamton, NY

There is more than one location associated with this position. This is either because there are multiple openings at different sites, or the successful candidate will be required to float across multiple UHS facilities. Your recruiter and hiring manager will clarify expectations during the interview process.

Primary Work Shift:

Rotational

Compensation Range:

$19.37 - $28.09 per hour, depending on experience

You will be eligible for benefits if you are hired into a regular position with at least 24 scheduled weekly hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take and document vital signs, promptly reporting any changes
  • Support patient flow by preparing rooms and assisting with transfers
  • Respond quickly to call lights and patient requests
  • Assist with procedures under the direction of nursing staff
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized care environment
  • Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and fami

Position Qualification

Preferred:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Completion of a Nurse’s Aide program
  • Previous hospital or health care experience.


License/Certification

Preferred:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
