The purpose of this position is to perform skilled work of the painter trade. Including hanging wall coverings, prepares surfaces for painting, applies paints, as the job requires (latex, oils, etc.), and replaces broken glass. This person must work with other trades during remodeling. These and other jobs are done in performing maintenance and repair for a secure mental hospital with approximately 750 patients and over 1 million square feet of space. Follow facilities tool and sharps policies. Follow the responsibilities outlined in the Painter classification series and job profile specifications.

What We Are Looking For

Minimum Qualifications: These qualifications must be reflected in your application for consideration.

Completed painter apprenticeship training and be a journey worker

OR
Three years of varied painting experience.

Desired Attributes: The following are desired attributes that we have identified as key to success for this role at OHA. These are the attributes we are looking for in our top candidate. If you have any of these, please let us know in your application.

  • Experience preparing surfaces for painting.

  • Experience applying paint with various tools.

  • Experience replacing broken glass, cutting glass to size, cleaning out broken glass and putty, refitting to sash with putty or molding.

  • Experience installing wall coverings, including murals, wallpaper and protective coverings.

  • Experience maintaining an inventory of materials, reports need to supervisor or lead person.

  • The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying range. If the successful candidate qualifies for PERS, the salary range will increase by 6.95%. For more information, see the Classification and Compensation page.
