Location: Chattanooga, Tennessee

Compensation: $16.00 / hour

Description

Are you passionate about animal care and looking to grow your career in veterinary medicine? We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician to join our team! Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Animal Care & Patient Support
    •  Assist with safely handling and restraining animals during exams and procedures 
    •  Provide basic care including feeding, bathing, and exercising patients 
    •  Administer medications as directed by veterinarians 
    •  Monitor and record vital signs, reporting changes to the medical team 
  • Facility Maintenance & Safety
    •  Clean and sanitize kennels, exam rooms, and treatment areas 
    •  Sterilize and maintain surgical and medical instruments 
    •  Ensure a clean, organized, and safe environment for patients, clients, and staff 
  • Client Service & Communication
    •  Greet clients warmly and assist with check-in and check-out 
    •  Schedule appointments and manage incoming calls/inquiries 
    •  Educate clients on basic pet care, medications, and treatment plans 
    • Relay important information between clients and veterinary staff 
  • Administrative & Operational Support
    •  Maintain accurate patient records and update medical files 
    •  Assist with billing, invoicing, and financial transactions 
    •  Monitor inventory levels and help order supplies as needed 
  • Laboratory & Diagnostic Assistance
    •  Collect and prepare laboratory samples 
    •  Assist with diagnostic procedures such as X-rays and blood draws 
    •  Support veterinarians during exams and treatments 
  • Emergency & Critical Care Support
    •  Assist during emergency situations and urgent care procedures 
    •  Follow established protocols to support patient stabilization and treatment 
  • Professional Development
    •  Stay current on veterinary best practices and procedures 
    •  Participate in ongoing training and continuing education opportunities


Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • Previous veterinary experience required
  • Veterinary Assistant certification or Veterinary Technician licensure is a plus 
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills 
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Compassionate approach to patient care and client service
