We are looking for an Experienced Oral Surgery Assistant that will provide chairside support to our surgeons in maintaining preoperative and postoperative care, assisting with anesthesia monitoring and ensuring patients comfort in a well-organized environment. The ideal candidate understands the importance of teamwork, can deliver outstanding patient care even in a stressful environment, strong organizational and communication skills, and is efficient with time management when working independently. We would prefer applicants with experience, however willing to train the right candidate for this position.
• Assisting Surgeon's in IV sedation, Nitrous and/or Local surgeries
• Ability to Prepare and Sanitize ORs
• Prepping patients in OR for Doctor
• Criticare monitors (placing monitors recording vitals)
• Recovery room-Recovering patients' post-surgery, provide discharge instructions
• Post op appointments
• Reviewing/ Entering Health History
• Ordering surgical supplies
• Joint Commission
• Maintaining Certifications BLS, OMSA, ACLS, PALS Non-Surgical
Responsibilities:
• Sterilization
• Restock supplies
• Understand all forms and handouts (procedure-based, consent forms, pre- and post-op, etc.).
• Aware of and in compliance with OSHA requirements
• Greet patients and make them feel comfortable
• Perform administrative tasks
• Perform patient consultations
• Provide discharge instructions
• Make follow up phone calls to patients
• Take X-Rays / scans (Panoramic, CT, IOS)
• Ability to enter EMR notes for various appointments and procedures
• Coordinate treatment plans with referring dentists
• May direct the work of and/or train other team members Experience/Education/Certification
• 5+ years previous clinical surgical assistant experience required
• California Dental X-ray License
• Basic life support (BLS) certification required
• Maintaining Certifications BLS, OMSA, ACLS, PALS Additional Skills
• Reliable Professional
• Great organizational and time management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to provide excellent patient care, even under stressful circumstances
• Consistent professionalism in appearance and attitude
• 3+ years previous people management experience preferred
• Monday – Friday, 8 hour shift Special
• Must be able to stand up to 80% of the time at minimum.
• Physical requirements include sitting, stooping, turning, standing, bending, walking, hearing, reading, writing, and keyboarding, may lift up to 25 lbs.
