How you’ll contribute
A Scheduler who excels in this role will:
Coordinate patient scheduling for testing, procedures, consultations, and admissions, ensuring alignment with provider availability, facility capacity, and clinical priorities.
Verify and obtain insurance authorizations and pre-certifications, accurately documenting approval details within scheduling and registration systems.
Collect and maintain accurate patient demographic, insurance, and referral information to support efficient registration, billing, and continuity of care.
Serve as a primary point of contact for incoming calls, providing professional assistance to patients, providers, and internal staff while addressing scheduling inquiries and concerns.
Communicate appointment details, preparation instructions, and procedural requirements to patients and physician offices to ensure readiness for services.
Maintain accurate records within electronic health record (EHR) and scheduling systems while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary departments to coordinate urgent appointments, resolve scheduling conflicts, and promote efficient patient flow.

What we’re looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent required; three years of directly related experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Prior scheduling experience in a healthcare environment strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and billing processes preferred.
- Strong computer proficiency, including experience with scheduling or electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
