Role Overview  Reporting to the Senior Manager, Human Resources, the Human Resources Generalist plays a critical role in supporting plant operations by partnering with employees, supervisors, and leadership to deliver HR programs and initiatives that align with Company objectives. Supporting both salaried and unionized hourly employees, the Human Resources Generalist serves as a trusted advisor on a broad range of human resources and labour relations matters, including employee relations, attendance management, workplace investigations, disability and accommodation support, and the interpretation and administration of the Collective Agreement. The role collaborates closely with operational leaders and union representatives by maintaining a strong presence on the plant floor. The role helps proactively build relationships, coach leaders, supports employee engagement, and helps to foster a positive, respectful, and productive workplace.   Key Responsibilities Responsible for end-to-end support of assigned client groups, comprised of hourly and Operations leadership. Sound understanding of the Collective Agreement. Participates in grievance meetings, fact gathering, settlement discussions, and preparation of grievance responses and resolutions. Partners with operational leadership to proactively identity and address employee relations concerns while maintaining productive union relationships. Conducts and supports workplace investigations involving harassment, discrimination, violence, policy violations, attendance concerns, misconduct, safety incidents, and collective agreement disputes. Prepares investigation documentation, findings summaries, recommendations, and management communications. Provides day-to-day coaching and guidance to supervisors and managers regarding employee relations matters, performance management, corrective action, attendance, accommodation, and collective agreement administration. Administers the Attendance Management Programs to ensure consistent application and timely response. Analyzes HR metrics and trends to identify risks, opportunities, and recommendations that support operational effectiveness and employee engagement. Coordinates and supports H&S and operational leaders on non-occupational, disability or medical leaves including regular follow-up to the employee and providing updates to supervisors of return to work. Ensures compliance with human rights, employment standards, privacy obligations, and company policies. Maintains a presence on the plant floor to engage and connect with employees across various shifts. Organize training sessions and employee engagement activities as required. Act as liaison for employee benefits, payroll inquiries and preparation of job reference letters, ensuring timely follow up. Assists with HR audits, employee record keeping and timely reporting within the HRIS systems. Identify, prepare and deliver training/communications to supervisors and management on various topics. Supports the operation by reporting on location based KPIs. Provide support to the plant recruitment, retention and engagement activities, both hourly and salary. Provide administrative support as required.   Key Knowledge and Experience Diploma or Certificate in Human Resource Management or equivalent experience in Human Resources, holding a CHRP designation a strong asset Minimum 3–5 years progressive Human Resources experience, including experience in a unionized manufacturing environment. Excellent communication, conflict resolution and analytical skills. Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Kronos. Strong organizational skills – ability to prioritize, plan and execute; Entrepreneurial spirit – ability to take ownership of assigned client groups. Self-motivated, strong hands-on work ethic..
