Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for an Airplane on the Ground (AOG) Aviation Maintenance Technician to join our Field team in Renton, Washington.

As an AOG technician, you will have the opportunity to travel to various locations, both domestic and international, to perform essential maintenance and repairs on aircraft. This role requires adaptability and a strong commitment to excellence, as you will be responsible for disassembling components, conducting functional tests, and ensuring compliance with Boeing specifications and safety protocols. Your attention to detail will be vital as you document discrepancies, manage parts inventory, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve any issues that arise. Position Responsibilities:

  • Receive assignments from team leaders or supervisors and review relevant paperwork and drawings to determine tasks.

  • Identify work areas using technical documents such as drawings, Installation Plans (IP), and Work Orders (W/O) specifying airplane and section details.

  • Ensure all documentation, including drawings and specifications, is complete, accurate, and up to date.

  • Follow maintenance manuals and Boeing specifications to adhere to proper procedures during tasks.

  • Verify pre-picked parts against specifications, ensuring they are suitable for the aircraft and free of defects; obtain additional parts as needed.

  • Disassemble aircraft components as required to access areas for repair or modification, including removing and replacing structural elements.

  • Operate mechanical lifts and set up assembly tools according to tooling instructions, ensuring correct configuration for the model.

  • Perform drilling, reaming, and countersinking of holes in parts and assemblies, selecting appropriate tools and ensuring proper dimensions.

  • Fabricate detail parts from raw materials to meet repair or modification requirements and prepare surfaces for fastener installation.

  • Install and route electrical assemblies, tubing, and plumbing systems, ensuring compliance with specifications and proper fastening.

  • Conduct functional tests on aircraft systems and perform electrical/functional testing of wiring and avionics as required.

  • Document discrepancies and rework results, including special repairs, and submit completed jobs or in-process checks to engineering or quality assurance.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while handling hazardous materials according to approved procedures.

  • Apply mathematical calculations for precision measuring tools to ensure accurate measurements of gaps, heights, and hole dimensions.

  • Maintain required certifications, licenses, and training, and consult with management or other teams on job-related issues as needed.

  • Support Boeing products in the Puget Sound area and abroad, ensuring compliance with all operational standards.

  • Function as a Functional Test, Avionics, or Electrical Technician, performing specialized testing and troubleshooting as required.

  • Engage in Structural Mechanic and Composite Repair Technician rework, ensuring high-quality repairs and modifications.

  • Be prepared to travel anytime, anywhere with little to no advance notice to support operational needs.

  • Accept assignments on any shift, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to team objectives.

  • Operate computing equipment to access job information, ensuring efficient workflow and documentation.

  • Collaborate with other highly skilled employees in close proximity in a team-like environment, fostering effective communication and teamwork.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

  • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

  • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties. 

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications:

Relevant experience can include academic qualifications, military service, or other industry-related roles.

  • 3+ years of experience assembling, repairing and / or testing of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical components and systems.

  • 3 + years of experience with Boeing Single and/or Wide Body aircraft models.

  • Ability to complete Fall Protection Training.

  • Willing and capable of travelling both domestically and internationally with short notice and for extended periods, anywhere in the world and for potentially extended periods of time (must obtain and possess current passport).

  • Ability to work variable shifts; including days, evenings, nights and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license.

  • 5+ years aircraft manufacturing experience associated with Boeing wide/single body aircraft models.

  • 3 + years of experience working with precision measuring tools.

  • 3 + years of experience operating forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts and related equipment.

  • Experience with Boeing aircraft maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogue and component maintenance manuals.

Typical Education & Experience: 

High school graduate or GED preferred.

Pay: $35.32/hour, with potential to earn up to $62.45/hour in accordance with the terms of the relevant collective bargaining agreement.
