
Commodity Director – Power Conditioning System (PCS)

Role Overview
The PCS - Commodity Director is responsible for leading the global sourcing strategy, supplier management, cost optimization, and risk mitigation for power electronics components, systems, power modules. This role partners closely with engineering, manufacturing, and business leadership to ensure a resilient, cost-effective, and innovative supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
1. Commodity Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute global commodity strategies for power electronics components
- Define long-term sourcing roadmaps aligned with product and technology evolution
- Lead cross-functional alignment with engineering, product management, and operations
- Lead, coach, mentor PCS commodity management team
2. Supplier Management & Development
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard strategic suppliers globally
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key suppliers
- Drive supplier performance in cost, quality, delivery, innovation, and sustainability
- Lead supplier development initiatives and continuous improvement programs
3. Cost Management & Negotiation
- Own total cost of ownership (TCO) for the commodity portfolio
- Lead complex negotiations for long-term agreements, pricing, and capacity
- Deliver cost reduction targets through value engineering, should-cost modeling, and design-to-cost initiatives
- Benchmark pricing and technology to ensure competitiveness.
4. Risk Management & Supply Assurance
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks (e.g., geopolitical, capacity constraints, single sourcing)
- Develop dual/multi-sourcing strategies and inventory buffers where required
- Lead crisis management during supply disruptions
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and ESG requirements (UL, RoHS, REACH, etc.)
5. Collaboration with Engineering & Innovation
- Work closely with R&D teams on component selection and supplier co-development
- Influence product design decisions to optimize cost, availability, and manufacturability
- Drive early supplier involvement (ESI) in new product development (NPI)
- Track emerging technologies in power electronics & design incorporation/alternate sourcing
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Electronics, or related field)
- 20-25+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, Commodity management with strong exposure to power electronics/electricals
- Proven experience negotiating global, high-value supplier contracts and Contract Manufacturer management
- Experience working in industries such as industrial, renewable energy, or electronics manufacturing
