Johnsburg School District 12 offers an in-house training program and is happy to support qualified applicants through a paid training process if they do not currently hold a valid School Bus Driver Permit or CDL. Reports to:
Director of Operations

Conditions of Employment:

• 174 student attendance days
• Daily route plus extra trips
• Sick and personal time
• Participation in the IMRF Pension System
• Insurance Benefits
• Starting rate: $21.30 per hour

Qualifications:   

• High School diploma/equivalent
• Valid School Bus Driver Permit (must be 21+) preferred, but will train
• Valid CDL Driver's License with good driving record preferred, but will train
• Respect confidentiality
• Must be able to use tact and diplomacy in human relations
• References must be provided

School Bus Driver Tasks: 

• Conduct thorough pre-trip/post-trip inspections   
• Report maintenance safety issues
• Maintain cosmetic appearance of bus (swept/dusted/windows/fueled)
• Maintain student discipline/report improper conduct
• Check for messages before each shift (mailbox/board/calendar)
• Follow district transportation policy
• Perform job according to State Bus Driver Curriculum
• Annual physical/drug screen (subject to random drug testing)
• Perform all additional tasks as directed by the Director of Operations
• Promote a positive relationship with students, staff and community
• Adhere to the district's expectations with regards to attendance and punctuality
