About the Role 

 

Working within a multidisciplinary team comprised of solicitors, a social worker, community engagement manager,  and a financial counsellor, you’ll be part of a collaborative and highly respected team spanning Central Sydney, Lismore, Orange and Nowra.

 

In these roles, you’ll deliver outreach services to Aboriginal communities,  building strong community connections while providing high-quality legal advice, minor assistance and casework across a broad range of civil law matters.

 

You’ll be supported by experienced senior solicitors, with access to ongoing supervision and professional development, making this a role where both early career and experienced solicitors can continue to grow and thrive.

 

You’ll also work closely with the Family Law Service for Aboriginal Communities (FamAC) and Aboriginal Field Officers to deliver holistic, culturally responsive services.

  • Experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander clients and/or communities 

  • Knowledge and understanding of the diverse histories, social structures, cultural practices and contemporary issues of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

  • Hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency  
  • Undertake relevant pre-employment checks such as Working with Children Check, Criminal Record Check and Conduct Service Check 

  • Possess legal qualification/s  

  • Be admitted or eligible for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW 

  • Provide a current NSW Practising Certificate before you start work with us 

  • Be willing to travel to regional and metropolitan offices as required
