Your Responsibility
Your duties
- Work with the Primary School Principal to maintain a visible and approachable profile of positive leadership at City Campus
- Active member of the City Campus PSCT (Primary School Curriculum Team)
- Support the Primary School Principal and attend Pedagogical Leadership Team meetings and Whole School Leadership team meetings, as required
- Work with the Primary School Principal and the Haimhausen Primary leadership to ensure that the Primary School reflects the BIS philosophy and to ensure that the school’s mission is implemented
- Provide curriculum leadership, management and coordination, including ensuring the effective implementation of the IB Primary Years Programme
- Liaise with the IB regarding the PYP
- Ensure that all requirements of the IB concerning the implementation of the programme are adhered to (See IBPYP Coordinator’s Handbook and Programme Standards and Practices)
- Ensure that staff members are informed of programme developments and new publications
- Prepare and submit documentation required for evaluation
- Facilitate initial PYP training for new staff members during the induction and orientation weeks
- Identify PYP-related Professional Development opportunities for staff including; workshops, site visits, curriculum development and participation in professional networks
- Organise onsite professional development related to the PYP for staff and parents
- Keep up to date with curriculum developments through professional reading and participating in professional development opportunities, * Champion transdisciplinary learning, concept-driven inquiry, and student agency as the foundation of our learning culture
- Communicate with parents and the wider community regarding the implementation of the PYP within the school
- Promote a positive and professional learning culture
- Deputise for the Vice-Principal in their absence
- Carry out any other duties that the Director or Primary School Principal may reasonably require
CURRICULUM
Planning
- Work collaboratively with committees/teams in the writing, review and development of curriculum documentation
- Facilitate weekly Grade-level team collaborative planning meetings to ensure the development and successful implementation of the Programme of Inquiry, coordinating with the Vice Principal to ensure all meetings and expectations are covered
- Work with the Vice Principal to implement the BIS Primary Curriculum Review Cycle
- Advise the Grade 5 teachers in identifying the expectations and procedures of the PYP Exhibition
- Inform and support the staff with curriculum planning, curriculum implementation and classroom methodology
- Undertake teaching duties as required by the Primary School Principal
- Assist staff by recommending and locating suitable resources to support the implementation of the programme
- Inform, assist and support the staff to develop high-quality assessments during planning, directly related to curriculum outcomes
- Facilitate meetings with grade-level and department teams to moderate assessments for both horizontal and vertical articulation purposes
- Oversee the co-construction of the report card structure, including learning outcomes, and proof-read student reports
- Evaluate and further the implementation of the IBPYP in conjunction with the Primary School Principal and to meet the recommendations from recent evaluations
- Evaluate and further the curriculum being offered at BIS in accordance with the IB programmes Standards and Practices

- Assist the Principal during the implementation of emergency protocols
- Support the Principal in promoting and implementing City Campus strategic initiatives
- Maintain high ethical standards and ensure appropriate levels of confidentiality
- Model the ability to engage and inspire faculty and staff to grow and challenge themselves, individually and as a group
- Cultivate relationships based on understanding, trust and respect within the school community
Your profile
- Teaching experience in the PYP Programme
- Firm grasp of the underlying structures and needs of the PYP and IB continuum learning
- Experience with curriculum leadership and successfully managing change
- Proven record of the ability to develop and inspire colleagues
- Demonstrated leadership skills and an ability to inspire trust in the school community
- A solution-focused mindset to support the school and the learning community to flourish
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent command of English, both written and oral
- Current understanding of research and issues in international education
