Operations Tax Specialist, Sr
You will be working on a flexible hybrid schedule as part of Fidelity's Dynamic working Policy.
The work location for this role is 483 Bay Street in Toronto until approximately late 2026, when the work location will change to the new Mississauga office at 3 Robert Speck Parkway.
Current work authorization for Canada is required for all openings.

Your Opportunity:
The Operations Tax team is responsible for managing all aspects of Fidelity Clearing Canada’s tax operations, including reporting and compliance. This includes the production and distribution of tax slips to clients, as well as interaction with tax authorities for withholding tax remittance, reconciliations, and audits. The team maintains direct engagement with FCC clients on tax-related matters. The roles within the team are responsible for ensuring that Fidelity's brand and reputation are protected by adhering to Fidelity's compliance and risk framework.
The Senior Specialist, Tax Reporting serves as a subject matter expert in one or more of the team’s three core focus areas (Canadian, US, and Global Reporting), while also providing cross-functional support as needed This role collaborates with internal stakeholders to drive efficient, accurate, and client-focused processes that meet regulatory requirements. Additional responsibilities include contributing to documentation updates, participating in projects, and supporting other initiatives as assigned.
What You Will Do:
The Operations Tax team is responsible for:
Tax Reporting - Canada & US
- Manage, oversee and ensure accurate completion of all Canadian and US tax reporting.
- Manage all client critical year-end processes for accuracy.
- Canadian tax reporting and delivery cycle function, including but not limited to the following: T5/R3, T3/R16, T5013/R15, T5008 NR4, T4RSP, T4RIF
- US tax reporting and delivery cycle function, including but not limited to the following: 1099INT, DIV and B, 1042S, form 1042 and 945
- Contribution Receipts
- Estate Receipts
QI & FATCA/CRS Reporting - US & Global
- Manage all QI obligations for FCC as a withholding QI
- Manage FATCA/CRS reporting for all FCC’s clients
- Document review as needed (QI, NR, RC forms)
Compliance and Regulatory Environment
- Maintenance of satisfactory internal and external Audit/Regulatory/Risk Ratings and Reviews
- Ensure all reporting is completed on or before regulatory deadlines
- Accountable for identifying issues and risks (financial & regulatory)
- Ensure all internal and external tax accounts are reconciled
- Stay current with regulatory environment governing tax responsibilities
- Conduct ongoing research to ensure that current processes remain compliant with applicable regulations and are proactively aligned with upcoming changes in the regulatory environment
- Document review as needed (QI, NR, RC forms)
Customer Service
- Be a role model for our employees for delivering stellar quality customer service interactions to our internal and external customers to exceed their expectations and create a positive experience
- The Senior Analyst, Tax Reporting is expected to be the subject matter expert in 1 or more of the 3 main areas of team focus.
- Provides backup as needed for the other areas as needed
- Liaise with other internal groups to ensure efficient and accurate processes that make the most sense from a client and regulatory aspect
- Involved with documentation review/update, projects and other tasks assigned
What We Are Looking For:
- 3 - 5 years of experience in tax processing and reporting
- Working experience within the brokerage industry or a clearing firm, an asset
- University Degree completed, an asset
- Tax related courses and CMA an asset
- Industry courses such as CSC, CMH, CPA, offered by the CSI, etc., an asset
What You Bring:
- Excellent knowledge of Canadian or US tax reporting / filing processes
- Working knowledge of dividends, income processing, reorg, registered plans
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Accurate and detailed oriented
- Knowledge of Broadridge's Dataphile platform an asset
- Excellent customer service orientation
- Ability to manage competing priorities effectively

- Base Salary and Discretionary Performance Bonus: A competitive annual range of $80,000 to $110,000, based on your experience and qualifications.
