Job Purpose
Lead direct reports in the Parts Quality Mass Production Team to prevent outflow of supplier defects, perform technical investigation/ analysis of problems, and implement countermeasures, while also managing change points to minimize production impact. Support Unit lead with business plan strategies and themes that would focus on PQ characteristic improvements to stabilize the powersports supply base.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage team with daily response to mass production quality problems by utilizing Honda problem solving tools for analysis, investigation and countermeasure activity.
- Support Unit Leads with Dept. Business Plan Development along with Budget cycles to integrate business strategies that will strengthen the quality foundation for future business.
- Lead implementation of Business Plan themes and strategies throughout the Ki.
- Evaluate quality risk and factory impact before giving final approval of supplier defect countermeasures and change points .
- Initiate and Lead meetings with suppliers, in-house Depts., and Honda R&D groups to discuss quality problems and identify sustainable countermeasures.
- Manage Quality Assurance Visit activity (QAVs) at concern suppliers to confirm adequate investigations have been completed and countermeasures are implemented.
- Monitor supplier characteristic improvements and engagement.
- Report monthly group results to Dept leaders and make changes based on mgmt. direction for continuous improvement (PDCA).
- Engage team associates to evaluate morale and listen to ideas on how to improve daily job functions and overall team strengthening
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
- 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Control or related field.
Minimum Experience:
- 8+ years professional experience .
- Able to work in Team environment
- Flexible schedule
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Analytical problem solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (by phone, in person and e-mail)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks by prioritizing and balancing workload
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Show initiative and act independently to resolve problems.

- Time management skills
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of products
- Must manage team daily activities, plan vs. actual
- Must be able to give presentations, speak in front of groups of associates/ managment

Working Conditions
- Travel between production floor and office area to address quality issues.
- Schedule meeting rooms to meet with suppliers to review problem details and set plans for improvement. Travel 25~ 30% of work time.
- Must be able to travel ground/ air to domestic and/or foreign destinations.
- Will travel to NCM and other Honda locations for qualitycontrol activities and benchmarking.
- Must be able to lead associates to achieve objective listed above.
- Must instruct direct reports on work schedule and report team progress to Dept./Division leads.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including off-shifts and weekends as necessary.
- Must be able to work overtime as necessary to support department needs (short term and/or scheduled).
