Job Description

The Accountant is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department. The Accountant will be heavily involved with general ledger and inventory management as well as assisting the Corporate Controller/Asst. Controller in providing timely and accurate financial data, while demonstrating a high level of professionalism. Duties and Day-to-Day Responsibilities, but not limited to the following:Assisting with the financial monthly close (General Journals, Balance Sheet Recs, etc.) Assisting with inventory management (Cycle Counts, Research Discrepancies, etc.) Closing Production/FG Batch Tickets (all facilities) Gross Profit Margin Tracking Participate in Inventory Counts Approving monthly bank reconciliations Approving ACH/wire payments Approving Sales/IFTA Tax Returns Updating and implementing processes and procedures Internal and external audits Preparing Multiple Reports (RM, GPM, Working Capital, Daily Sales Report/Forecasting, etc.) Maintaining orderly filing system for general journals and other accounting documents in accordance with the file retention policy Assisting with related special projects, as required Behavior Competencies:To perform the job successfully, the individual must demonstrate the following competencies: Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in-group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics. Minimum Training, Education, and Experience Requirements: Associates/Bachelor’s degree required Minimum 3 years experience necessaryExperience using Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains or similar software is preferredIntermediate knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office including Excel and Outlook is necessaryAble to effectively interface with internal and external customers Must be able to handle confidential information with maximum discretion Able to understand business principles and apply them accordingly Able to work independently and on a team within a fast-paced environment Demonstrate good judgment while managing projects, multi-tasking, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines with a sense of urgencyDetail-oriented, organized, efficient, and proactive Excellent interpersonal/presentation skills Excellent written/verbal communication skillsHigh level of accountability and flexibilityHigh level of self-confidence, professional grooming and demeanor, positive, self-starter and high degree of emotional staminaOpen and willing to receive and give constructive critiqueStrong analytical and quantitative skills
