About the Role:
The Vascular Lab Technologist plays a critical role in the diagnosis and management of patients with vascular diseases by performing specialized non-invasive vascular studies. This position involves operating advanced diagnostic equipment to assess blood flow and detect abnormalities in arteries and veins throughout the body. The technologist collaborates closely with physicians and healthcare teams to provide accurate and timely data that informs treatment decisions. Attention to detail and patient care are paramount, as the technician ensures high-quality imaging and patient comfort during procedures. Ultimately, the role contributes significantly to improving patient outcomes through precise vascular assessment and monitoring.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Vascular Technology program or equivalent education.
- Certification as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or equivalent credential (RVS).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Proven experience performing vascular diagnostic procedures in a clinical setting.
- Strong understanding of vascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with vascular lab quality assurance and accreditation processes.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and vascular lab reporting software.
- Additional training in arterial and venous duplex imaging techniques.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform non-invasive vascular diagnostic tests using Ultrasound.
- Prepare and maintain vascular lab equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality before each use.
- Explain procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the testing process.
- Accurately record and analyze test results, documenting findings in patient records for physician review.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to discuss test results and assist in patient care planning.
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory and safety standards related to vascular laboratory operations.
- Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with advancements in vascular technology and techniques.
Skills:
The Vascular Lab Technologist utilizes technical skills daily to operate and troubleshoot diagnostic equipment, ensuring accurate and reliable test results. Strong communication skills are essential for explaining procedures to patients and collaborating effectively with healthcare team members. Analytical skills are applied when interpreting vascular data and documenting findings clearly for physician review.
