
New Product Introduction Sourcing Specialist
Job Description
Who will you be working with?
You will work closely with cross‑functional LKZ plant teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain, as well as internal procurement stakeholders and external suppliers. The role partners with global and regional teams to support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects and ensure successful sourcing execution across locations and time zones.
How will you make a difference?
As a New Product Introduction Sourcing Specialist you will be responsible for coordinating sourcing and procurement activities during the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase. You will ensure quality, cost efficiency, and on‑time delivery of NPI components while managing supplier relationships and project timelines. This role plays a key part in early supplier engagement, risk mitigation, and collaboration with engineering to support manufacturability, tooling, and prototype development. You will own sourcing activities end‑to‑end for assigned components and contribute directly to successful product launches.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in sourcing or procurement, preferably in NPI or manufacturing environments
- Proven experience in supplier negotiations, RFQs, cost management, and technical collaboration
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Analytical mindset with experience assessing supply chain risks and driving mitigation actions
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 30%
- Proficiency with ERP and sourcing systems (e.g., Oracle, HICX)
- Strong communication skills and experience working with cross‑functional teams
Desired Qualifications:
- Fluent English (written and spoken)
- Understanding of locomotive or heavy manufacturing processes
- Experience with PPAP processes, supplier audits, and quality collaboration
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and IT sourcing systems
- Experience working across regions, sites, and time zones
What will your typical day look like?
Project & Supplier Management:
- Support supplier selection, onboarding, and part development for assigned NPI components
- Create and manage detailed project plans, schedules, and status reports
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, internal teams, and leadership
- Collaborate with Engineering to support cost efficiency during the design phase
- Escalate risks, issues, and project needs as required
Procurement & Sourcing:
- Execute RFQs, negotiate pricing and terms, and issue sample purchase orders
- Lead contract drafting activities with cross‑functional engagement
- Drive on‑time delivery of NPI parts aligned with production schedules
- Engage suppliers early for design for manufacturability, tooling, and prototype discussions
Risk & Quality Oversight:
- Monitor supplier risks, shortages, and capacity constraints
- Partner with SQE to support PPAP activities, audits, and quality compliance
- Maintain ERP system data and vendor master updates
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify sourcing and process improvement opportunities across NPI projects
- Manage multiple complex situations in a fast‑paced environment
- Support global collaboration and knowledge sharing across regions
