Make your mark while you grow your career! Are you passionate about Engineering in a world class mining facility? We are currently looking for a Mining Engineer to join the Albian Tailings Engineering team. In this role, you will be given the opportunity to showcase your expertise by supporting the evaluation, development, and execution of mine and tailings plans through collaboration with Canadian Natural Tailings Operations, Process Engineering, Maintenance and Mine Technical Services groups.

  • Job location: Calgary, Alberta
  • Shift schedule: 5 x 2, 8-hour shifts (Monday – Friday)
  • Safety sensitive position: Yes

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and maintain tailings plans and schedules, evaluating plan performance and risks, and providing clear recommendations to support strategic decision-making and plan optimization
  • Review and track site-based activities against long-range planning KPIs, identifying deviations, emerging risks, and opportunities to improve plan alignment and performance
  • Collaborate with Tailings Operations, Mine Planning, Geotechnical, Process, and Regulatory teams to integrate constraints, align assumptions, and ensure plans are coordinated across disciplines and planning horizons
  • Translate technical data, model outputs, and planning scenarios into clear, actionable insights, supporting effective communication of trade-offs, risks, and opportunities
  • Support regulatory and internal stewardship requirements by ensuring tailings plans are aligned with approvals, commitments, and long-term operating strategies
  • Validate planning assumptions through field engagement and review of as-built and operating data, improving model accuracy and confidence in long-range projections
  • Identify and develop new project scopes and evaluate existing scopes for improvement, ensuring alignment with long-term planning objectives and incorporation into mid- and long-range plans

What You Bring to the Role:

  • Degree in Mining Engineering
  • Registered with APEGA, or eligible to register
  • Previous experience in oil sands mining preferred
  • Experience with tailings planning software; Maptek Vulcan, and Minebridge Muk3D
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent
