Associate Manager Engineering 

 

GENERAL SUMMARY

Oversee all aspects of Plant Engineering and Maintenance in the HGBU Division whilst driving the team towards implementation of Lean Best Practices. Also, accountable for safety, housekeeping and industrial relations of medical manufacturing area.

 

JOB ROLE

 

· Ensure the safety of the personnel, plant and equipment while continuously improving the manufacturing process.

· Develop and implement Asset Management and Maintenance systems/tools (Maintenance Planning and Work Order Systems etc.) and streamlining the plant operations to achieve best results.

· Planning and executing Annual Maintenance Program for Beaded surgical (BS) plant & compounding division so that the Maintenance Cost is optimized whilst achieving Zero Unplanned Downtime.

· Take care HGBU all automation & electrical related activities.

· Work closely with Engineering Stores and manage the spare parts inventory. Ensure to maintain the Optimum stocks to prevent high inventory cost.

· Ensure that downtimes and wastages due to electrical and mechanical or other machine failures are minimal and within the budget and the machine performs to specification to meet relevant quality parameters.

· Preparation of Annual Maintenance Budget and managing the expenditure.

· Preparation of Investment Budgets and Investment Appraisals.

· Formulate Evaluate and execute all minor and major projects.

· Prepare Project Proposals, Justifications and Capital Expenditure Approval Requests for the Plant Capability Enhancement Projects.

· Compile all capital and maintenance expenditure reports to be presented at the Monthly Meeting.

· Implementation & Sustaining of APS in Ansell lanka. And follow 5S Best Practices.

· Develop and maintain Equipment Manuals, Equipment History Repository, and Maintenance Task Lists for each equipment considering the task frequency.

· Ensure all reports and statistical information are prepared accurately and submitted on a timely basis. Ensure necessary documentation and records are maintained to meet legal regulatory and GMP needs.

· Identify the Plant Bottleneck areas and improve the performance through improvement projects.

· Conducting Problem Solving Sessions and providing solutions through Small Group Interactive Activities Teams.

· Ensure that Engineering Manager and Manufacturing Manager are aware of problems, potential problems and developments which will impact on business. Assist them to plan strategies to overcome them.

· Machine modification and automation in order to achieve the extra requirement.

· Continuous improvement on Plant KPIs especially OEE, MTBF and MTTR.

· Lead the maintenance crew in the respective area towards achievement of business goals and support management in accomplishment of strategic business goals.

· Identify the development needs of the maintenance crew and make necessary arrangements to build a highly professional and talented team.

· Conduct the assessments and appraisals of subordinates, maintain significant incident logs and arrange training for personnel as and when required.

· Liaise with sister factories in Bench Marking and getting technical support in project implementation.

· Liaise with external parties, Institutes and authorities in getting the approvals, permits or license for operations, projects or other matters.

· Liaise with external parties, / contractors in outsourcing project work, services.

· Liaise with internal / External Parties in order to get the logistics in time for crucial projects.

· Conduct Relevant Plant Audits (Engineering Self-Assessment Tools) and support audits conducted by external parties in respective areas; Do corrective action on gap findings.

·  Responsible for validating the packing process and to establish parameters and maintain to ensure consistent quality to meet customer requirements.

· Propose amendments or alterations as necessary to SOPs.

· Responsible to conduct IQAs on Company Quality system.

· Implement approved employee relation practice, programs and procedures to ensure harmonious relationship to minimize the risk of third party intervention and / or industrial disputation.

· Take disciplinary actions against the subordinates as and when required, in consultation with HR department, in order to maintain the order.

· Ensure your subordinate staff know and understand their duties and responsibilities and provided with the necessary means and support and direction to carry them out.

· Ensure that all company activities conducted either personally or by subordinates comply with all Sri Lanka legal requirements and to the highest level of Company and ethical standards.

· Taking the charge of ongoing data collection, review energy data and drive departmental energy performance indicators.

· Supporting to implement the energy context of analysis and be a part of the EnMS internal audit team.

· Identifying, determining significant energy uses & implementing action plan to verify significant energy uses

· Identify energy opportunities, conduct energy assessments & Oversee energy projects and other energy related activities.

· Any other Responsibilities stipulated as and when required by the engineering Manager.

· Always get the best deal towards the company.

 

KEY POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education

· Degree holder in Bsc. Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Production)

· Exposure to lean six sigma principals. Lean six sigma Green/Black belt will be an added advantage.

Job Experience

· Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as an Engineer in a manufacturing environment
